Update @ 2009-10-14 10:49: The odd sims are complete!
Update @ 2009-10-14 06:54: The rolling restart for odd hosts is about to begin.
Update @ 2009-10-13 11:14: The even sims are complete.
Update @ 2009-10-13 06:58: The rolling restart for even hosts is about to begin.

Due to a recently discovered security issue, we will be rolling out 1.30.2 this week. The schedule is as follows:

* 2009-10-13, Tuesday, 7:00am - Even sims (50% of grid)
* 2009-10-14, Wednesday, 7:00am - Odd sims (50% of grid)

Changes in this version solely pertain to the security issue, though release notes (note?) can be found here: https://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Release_Notes/Second_Life_Beta_Server/1.30.

I will keep this post updated with the status of the deploy.

Dark irony that you're getting a lot of practice at this, Lil. =^-^=

just a question

Why is LindenLab always doing updates, when a lot of avatars are logged in ?
Atm there are 74.xxx People online.. when you watch online stats, there are lot of days when only 47K-50K Avatars/bots are logged in.. Why dont you update at these times?

Actually, if you look at the daily login graph, number of avatars varies from around 40K to 70K every day:

http://taterunino.net/statcharts/concurrent_logins14400.png
http://taterunino.net/statcharts/concurrent_logins14400.png

Daily peak is around 2pm SL, so starting as soon as they get in to the office avoids the peak time. Doing it from 2am would hit lower concurrency numbers, but on the other hand sim owners are not likely to be around to call in problems in the middle of the night. So that paradoxically would leave regions that failed to restart down for longer.

This way, it both leaves the second half of the linden work day to clean up inevitable problems, and likely to have people around to call in when there are problems.

On the beta grid, 1.32.0.135629 doesn't seem willing to allow attachment adjustment.

We tested it against 1.30.0.133784 and we were able to adjust prim attachments there.. but not on 1.32.0.135629. (is that a typo of 1.30.2.135629?)

Reproduction:

1. make a new prim.
2. right click and select "More > Wear"
3. right click and select "Edit"
4. slide the prim, using the arrows.
5. close the edit panel.

Expected Result: prim stays where it's placed.

Observed Result: prim snaps back to previous location.

https://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-4910

This issue affects anyone who sells attachments, or anyone who owns, or buys attachments. Pretty serious.

Seconds this...

I had my sim restarted Friday. Had to have my Sim restarted Saturday. and Sunday. and Monday.

This should be a PRIORITY.

LL admits to adding this... it is an EPIC FAIL. FIX IT.

Actually, I think we'll have a better chance of winning the lottery than figuring out the information from the Lindens.

Curious about the Emerald Viewer and all the features?

1.32.0.135629 really is an early version of the 1.32 server. 1.32 has a new LSL AGENT_AUTOPILOT constant for llGetAgentInfo(), which the 1.30 compilers won't recognize but the 1.32 compilers do. So, that attachment bug doesn't appear to be involved in what's being rolled this week.

Cool.. I just happened to be on the beta grid checking some skin textures.. and noticed I couldn't adjust an attachment and was like "ZOMG aren't they gonna release this in 2 days?!?!"

I'd much rather panic for no reason, than blow it off and have something that severe hit the main grid.

Even sims just started. The version being rolled is 1.30.2.135876.

1.32 is a completely different version that we will see in a few weeks, though as is mentioned, its out on Aditi in beta.

I no longer seem to be able to adjust the setting of the sun (the region time) in an estate where I'm an estate manager. Not sure if this is new, although I was able to do it in this region a couple fo weeks ago. (The region was updated to 1.30.2 just now.)

We've confirmed this issue on Aditi (1.32), though it shouldn't affect the version we're rolling out today (1.30.2). Thanks for the report!

Thanks for the heads up Prospero! I've asked someone in QA to verify.

The object 'Slow-dance v3' has sent you a message from Second Life:
Cannot reset while avatars sat on ballset or prims linked to ballset

= Slow-dance v3 is owned by Sindy Tsure

/me got the strange message above in an offline IM->email. I think this is a Bits & Bobs danceball thing that I've had for years and never seen this type of message before on..

Was Terri restarting around 2pm today, Lil?

Terri is on an odd # sim, so it wasn't included in the roll. It looks like it's only been up ~12h though, so maybe it restarted at 2am?

Not sure why it restarted at 2am.. Thanks for checking - just wondering if something unknown was happening with the new version. Guess not. :)

Im sorry, but a really dumb question - how can I tell if Im in an 'odd numbered' Sim? (other than wait around for a restart LOL). I'm guessing its based on the parity of one of the sim corner coords?

Under the Help menu click "About Second Life" and you'll see something like sim#.agni.lindenlab.com Where "#" is an even or odd number, that's how you know.

Neither :-) That was an inventory database maintenance that just finished. You should be able to get in now.

Would have been nice to know that the Mono stack-heap check changes in this release! I don't see it in the release notes.
