Avatar limits in mainland regions:
It is perfectly understandable why there are limits to number of avatars using a particular location. Unacceptable lag occurs at the limit and above. The question comes in how a single resident can be permitted to keep a region full or over-full for extended periods of time on a very consistent basis. Casinos with camping chairs at or hovering near the region avatar limit can effectively prevent any resident of that region from being able to invite one friend to visit. They can also effectively prevent a merchant or customer from visiting a store they wish to conduct business in. This also has a negative impact on region performance, causing constant lag that prevents reasonable movement of an avatar or prim. This is occuring even on class-5 servers. To this point, the general advice has been for the negatively impacted business-owner/resident to move to another region because the casino owner has every right under current TOS to continue doing as he is. This solution is unpalatable to the person who had been operating a business successfully or successfully using land in that region before the casino entered and erected the camping chairs.
This is an issue that needs to have a resolution that is fair to all land users, not just those attempting to run small casinos.
Echos of performance/stability concerns:
There seems to be some debate as to which has higher priority: performance or stability. I can't see how you can have one without the other. If it isn't stable, you won't have good performance. If you don't have good performance, it's a good bet you don't have stability. What measures are in the works for improving stability of the grid in light of the ballooning population and popularity of this world?
Consistency:
There seems to be inconsistency of features. They are sometimes broken/working. And it is always difficult to know which it will be when attempting to use them. What is causing this to occur, that is if it is possible to know?
Seeking help for reporting severely impaired region performance:
It is welcomed to have a method for reporting regions that are down. But how do you notify of regions that are hovering on the edge of crashing for extended periods of time? (Extended periods of time: well over 30 minutes or 3 hours)
Thank you for your time and concern on talking to concerned residents of this world. I look forward to a bright future in-world, and know that it is possible!
