Hello everyone ,

i just need good guidance to be fair totally and wise ..

What shall i do if i pay someone money lindens inworld to be up front ammount, in order to work and finish my scripting project by limit of time for example : he ask me to pay him 25% or 50% then he can start to work do my scripting telling me he will finish the jon in 2 or 3 weeks Maximum , and after that i have to pay the rest.

i keep wait and wait for 2 and 3 weeks then a month and 2 month and everytime i ask he say .. please wait more , if i ask to cancel the project he ask to keep the money his side in order to use it again if i just going to ask him to do another new project !

but i need my money back and if i ask again about my money he start to be rude !

what shall i do ?

does report abuse will give my money back ?
do i have to forget my money and it was just stupid mind to trust a person to hire him do job for me ?

i'm not kind of person who like to hurt or report others, but i just wish fair and wise behaves ... i paid and the job not completed !

what shall i do if they refuse to pay ?

If you pay somebody before the work is delivered, Linden Labs will not get involved and help you. Its kind of a buyer-beware thing. They are not party to the transaction. Its between you and the other party. Sometimes you meet great people who are straight up and do what they say they will do, and sometimes you don't. Its just like real life. What can you do about it? Honestly? Nothing. Not unless you happen to live in the same real life town as the person you hired, so you can sue them in the real life courts. SL has no laws, no court system, no lawyers (thank God), and you just can't get any private transactions like that enforced here.

There's no rule that says you can't go on forums and disclose the details of the transactions if you want to air your experiences out in the court of public opinion, or start a website so that "av_name)_rippedmeoff.com" gets out there and soils a reputation, but how far do you want to go? I suppose it relates to how much you go hosed, huh?

So, do your homework, make sure you get lots of great references about somebody's work from a lot of sources that have paid for work from them, and whenever possible always pay on delivery.

That's the best answer you can get. Reporting them gets you nothing. Good luck out there.

What a reat answer you just speak my mind and i really appreciate you !
cause here in SL we just think like RL or we compare it by RL business, when someone start scam we should get secured by kind of powerful law , we work to have a clear deal but some people always try to play games many different of fraud ,,,,

if the abuse report never give money back then what is the sense here !

i really wish to get any good honest solution even in any far future .

Thanks again my friend, your answer just makes me feel better to think million times before i pay someone else .

Best Regards

I too got stung on the first time I hired help. (in my case it was scripting too)

I paid 8000 up front, 50%. Waited weeks to be told their computer was broken. Waited more and gave up. I won't try that again.

Then I spent a year learning to script and can now script better than a lot but of course am no expert. Yet!

Now I can do most things myself. Very rewarding but takes a lot of time.

I wish you luck.

Well i have list of wonderful people to help me under custom scripts and all of them just best people of SL make every project just done perfectly , but you know .. no one perfect and we always need talented people and different skills , that;s why it give us chance to fall in same mistake to deal with scamers or maybe just lazy people !

but Thanks a lot we all should learn
and i believe second life is just best place to work as team , and best project done when group of people work together.

Thanks again for your response.
