Could there be better policing of the Events postings in Search. Most of them are ads pure and simple and should be in classified. This makes searching for events useless. I have just listed a Skydiving event to generate traffic for a whole area "Flightsim City" rather than just 1 business. 99% of the ads on the day are repeated day after day, so are not events at all.

How about charging money to list an event. They wouldn't have an "event everyday" if they had to pay.

Although I would also like to see someone policing it, I don't think charging is an option.

There are many charity and support groups who have regular meetings, and their hosts give their time for free. To ask the hosts to then pay L$ just to advertise the events they're already giving time up for is a bit much.

I wouldn't mind seeing a maximum number of events any one account could place in a week, but even that wouldn't stop it since your determined ad poster would simply create more free accounts and post there.

Certainly I think it does need to be looked at, but I honestly can't think of anything that would be both fair to charities and closed to abuse.

Totally agree... if you want to advertise, that's what classifieds are for. If you're having an event, then that's all well and good, but 24 hour yard sales/free money/grand opening/new product/hippie pay/etc are *not* events.

If the person placing the event is not online at the start and end time of the event, then they should be find L$1000.

Give us the ability to right click an event and 'ignore all events posted by this person'. Start doing that a bunch of times, and one can start ignoring the spam posted there.

If you won't let us filter the events list by ourselves, then have a Linden go through the events list and find all those events which should not be there. The punishment for posting an event which should not be on the events list (a classified ad-type event) is that you lose the priviliege of posting events for 1 month - on your posting account and all of your alts. The punishment for doing it twice should be a 1 day suspension.

Alternatively, charge a fee for MOST types of event (especially 'commercial' type events) but leave 'educational' and such events free to post. Then, you need only have a Linden police the educational/non-commercial events section.
