Last year my cable television and internet was out for an entire week. Apparently there was some mishap with the equipment/lines (whatever) that caused the outage. Because the issue was no fault of my own, I received a credit on my next bill for one week's worth of service. A similar occurance took place when there was an electric outage in my area about 4 years ago. The electric company actually gave its customers credits to cover spoiled food in the fridge/freezer.
Considering the fact that the issues with SL are a regular occurance, it makes sense that LL issue partial tier credits to their premium subscribers.
While i know there will be some who say "Just do RL stuff", this isn't about how I or anyone else spends their free time. I'm not as much upset that the service is down (I do have stuff I need to do) but I am annoyed that I'm spending money to pay for land that I can't access or properly utilize due to system issues. This really is about basic customer service practices. People are paying for a service and when the service is unavailable or hosed up for an unreasonable amount of time then they are due a refund (or in the case of tier payments, a credit on their bill) for the service they did not receive.

They won't give back anything. They are in the business to make money, not provide a stable atmosphere.

From what I've heard the issue is with the VPN between their Dallas and San Francisco data centers. The website and beta grid are entierely in San Francisco, so that's why they're not down.
btw, Scarletta, you must have really nice utility services. Here our power and TV went out for a week due to Hurricane Isabel in 2004 and we didn't get anything back, just glad we live on a hill ^^;

From: Danielle Harrop They won't give back anything. They will if there is 24 hours of continuous downtime. Or something absurd like that.

Also it's likely that their ISP will give them a refund for downtime, so in essence it's just free money for LL.

They tend to refund European costomers.
However, if you're trying to compair to LL and SL downtime, LL doesn't offer money unless there are 24 hours of continuous downtime.
