I am very unhappy with LL and how the tier tax is billed. To help a friend I purchased a 512m2 parcel next to mine and 5 minutes later I sold the person my original parcel to expand her land. I owned 1024 m2 for 5 minutes and I was taxed $5.00 .
I have tried to resolve this inequity with Linden Labs without success. I get automated no-reply responses that ignore the fundamental unfairness fo this taxation. So LL has a horrible tax system that is unfair and it has poor, impersonal customer service.
So I bring this issue to the forum. We have unfair taxation without representation in SL.

Solution:
Hello, Leinad Meriman
Thank you for contacting us, I see the reason you dont think that its a valid charge but if you look at the web site it will explain peak usage in further detail and it does state that if you buy and sell land even if you only owned the land for 5 minutes your peak usage is worked out by the amount of land owned at any one time through your billing cycle ufortunately there for this is a valid charge.
If you have any further problems or enquiries please contact us.
Enjoy your in world experience
Keith,
Linden Lab Support

When you bought the 512 for your friend, didn't it warn you that you'd be tiering up?

From: Leinad Meriman We have unfair taxation without representation in SL.
No, we don't have taxation. We have a charge for the use of some space on a server. And you agreed to pay that charge for that service when you agreed to the TOS.

I'll start rallying my group to meet at the Harbor to dump the tea.

Doesn't bother me. I live on Azure so it doesn't really apply there.

/me, not seeing an option for 'read the large print' doesn't vote.
Like Meade asks, didn't it warn you that you'd have to tier up when you bought the land?
