I have joined the game in December last year, but started to be active as of February. I have learned a lot of things while being in here and met some wonderful people but also scams of the lowest rank.
I've learned to build and made clothes which are very much appreciated. Therefore I've decided to open up a shop.
I've been trying to populate it with my creations for the past week, but each and every time something comes up and wouldn't let me. Either SL moves like a snail, or technical issues show up ... I try to make the boxes for my dresses, and hell!!! I cannot see anything that I am wearing! I open up my inventory, and it takes FOREVER to upload a lousy folder of 5 items in it. I try to upload a texture ... well ... we are sorry, but SL experiences some problems at the moment. This is what i've seen most of the time lately in SL, and I have had enough!
You know ... what is surprising me most is that SL never ever have technical problems to withdraw money from our accounts when it comes to paying the monthly subscriptions! They work always like a clock! When will SL work like a clock as well??? Will it ever?

You weren't around when they actually had trouble doing even that. SL is at it's wonkiest right now, but "Even a broken clock is right twice a day."

Actually right now they have some issues, but I can honestly say in my 2 years in world, I have seen far worse... I think I can remember a time just over a year ago when a whole month of vicious asset system problems (brought on by the SL population tripling in 2 months, going from 7,000 ppl online average to 20,000+,vastly outpacing the lindens growth projections for the time) made it so TPs were so broken I would log off and log back in directly dialing the name of the place that I wanted to go, or even just attempt to fly there (lol). Rezzing was just as broken during that time, and the lag in most places was crippling. I can also remember all the way back to when I started, there was a month where between the old weekly mandatory patch system (which most everybody dreaded) and griefers crashing THE WHOLE GRID with self replicating objects (the infamous "grey goo" there was a whole month where the grid was down every other day, and in that same time period somebody also hacked into the SL databases forcing the lindens to lock people out until they verified that they were who they said they were (I was locked out for a whole weekend because I was using a "junk" E-mail account at the time, had to wait to clear the whole thing up with phone support) Not to make it sound like people shouldn't be miffed by current problems, especially if they pay for the service.... but SL has actually been through far worse days in the past.

Yes, they have those too. They forgot to bill a whole bunch of subscribers just a few months ago and it went a week or two before they noticed.

From: Tribal Toland And after everything that has gone wrong, it hasnt really greatly improved has it It has vastly improved. The graphics and FPS during the time periods I mentioned above were half what they are now (if that) and no built in voice client. Also the game has gone from where it absolutly could not handle 20,000 people at once- and now they manage 3 times that many people on the databases with not even half as much trouble, and still have never come around to putting caps on peoples inventories, allowing you to have as much stuff as you want (most other MMOs have inventory caps on their databases). Sure they have issues, but I am not kidding or exaggerating, the "growth crunch" and "gray goo" time periods I am talking about totally sucked, and continued to suck for over a month. SL's woes of today are not as bad as they have seen in the past and at least nowadays we as residents have a lot more to look forward to when we log in than back then.

in the time I've been here SL has had some bad patches and its true the number of people online has increased an incredible amount and we have some new toys and nice skies but the downside ..FPS? improved? I think thats pure fantasy half the time its like wading through jello and the fps simply doesn't tally with on screen. Issues were simple to report I remember having 3 Lindens helping me sort a problem now sightings of a Linden are rarer than bigfoot and anyone claiming to have talked to a Linden is viewed with the same skepticism as some poor soul hearing voices. Fraud and theft are rampant and customer confidence seems at an all time low other than that its peachy

Have you looked into maybe getting a new plot to work in? This sounds extreme even for the worst computer. SIMs vary, hugely, some run well, some so don't. Then there's the fun of finding a remote SIM in the back woods somewhere only to wake up to an ad farm next door. Takes all kinds.

Probvably because the machines used in offices are capable of such menial tasks, unlike when people try and use the same machines to run 3D hi resolution graphics rendering on the fly.
