Is there something I am unaware of?
Is there a law against bots now? If so, can someone please show me? My bots are being moved from my land. I can only assume that a Linden may be doing it since there are no permissions enabled on my land and my bots are in a cage essentially. If this is against TOS, then I will comply. If not, I want my bots to remain. Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

Is this on the mainland? If so and you're taking more than your share of sim resources, LL may indeed be punting them.
I haven't heard any news on LL outlawing bots - they can't actually do it anyway - but your post is pretty vague.. Some details would help here. _____________________

If there was a resource problem, presumably Lindens could just log them out. More plausible is that someone has been having a little fun with them. Does your bot software log collisions at all?

There are other bot runners as well as bot makers on the grid, Ryan, and we haven't heard anything from them about bots being perturbed. So probably yours are being toyed with by someone other than the Lindens, unless you are borking the sim performance.
Hmm ... some good uses of bots: 1. The Lindens use them to monitor grid performance, they TP around and do things, and report when they fail. 2. They are used by some to augment artistic performances ... e.g. SL Shakespeare uses them as "Ushers" and for some actor movements etc. onstage. 3. If I had a large estate of like 20 sims, or a large network of retail shops, I would use a bot to monitor performance. In fact, Hippovend should offer that as an option. 4. Make instant group inviters possible 5. If I was a large corporation which put on events for others on islands, I would make my customized "conference" builds on a standard footprint and create a bot to automatically terraform the land, assemble the build, and buy/place whatever is necessary. I'm sure there are more, I'm in a bit of a hurry now... |

I have two that I use the test my camping builds. Now they are asleep most of the time but they have proved to be invaluable in testing security measures. They have also become important in testing my gift card system also. My 2 L.

Some ne'erdowells intentionally mess with bots, you know. _____________________
