Time for a Freeze, and Maybe Overtime?

I have only been around a couple of months, and I am really enjoying SL...

...

when it works. There have been new features added in the last little bit, most notably voice, and the new lighting is coming soon I understand. Every new feature brings more unforeseen problems, that's just a fact of life. I can understand that.

What I can't understand is why these eccentricities are being compounded with new ones before the old ones are fixed. That, at least to me, makes pinning down the old ones even harder as they are compounded by the new ones. Right now I am locked out of where I was working, with the blog stating that the problem has been fixed.

Obviously, it hasn't. Could it be that it is time for a freeze on new innovations, at least until sufficient bugs are patched enabling us to have a reasonable chance of smooth operation? One blog I read was either posted at the beginning of the weekend, and it said that the problem would be seen to on Monday.

Monday? I really don't mean to rant, but do service providers on the Internet really go home when their service isn't working? Not on the ones I know. As we've been reminded by the unpleasantness lately, this is real money we are dealing with here. People are losing the ability to earn each minute that people can't get to their sims, no different than commercial webspace that goes down.

This isn't a rant, it is a plea for reason. Don't soil the weeds to make them ranker, to quote the bard. Don't put flashy mag wheels and neon ground effects on your pinto that can't run long enough to get you to work. Function over form, please, please, please...

Aye! I just disovered a new oddity today (tonight):

TP'd home. Went into mouselook. Thought maybe I just had a bit of lag acting up. NOPE!! Total disconnect!! Not even the "SL Crash Reporter" popped open. Just stopped responding. Had to do the '3 finger salute' to shut it down (ctrl+alt+del).

Meh. Everytime they fix one thing, they break another.

*And I know it's not my connection this time- I keep a laptop running beside me with several IM clients running & was still conversing with someone.
