Peace Haven Communities aka PHC

“Rent is non-refundable” this is the message that was hammered home to me. My rent had 1 week to run and was due to run out on Saturday 4/12/2008. On Monday 4/7/2008, I advised the owner Keera Woyseck that I was not going to re-lease. On Tuesday 4/8/2008, I started to remove my belongings. I pretty much cleaned out the whole house except for a item or two. When I logged in on Wednesday 4/8/2008, I noticed the balances of my items were returned to me. I TP’d to the house and it was already up for rent. Since it seemed that my lease was terminated I requested a partial week refund. I spoke to 2 caretakers and was told they would contact Keera. I assumed all was well, but when I logged in today Thursday 4/9/2008, I was ejected from the PHC group and handed a notecard pointing out that “Rent is not refundable”

Is there a point to this post? 'Rent not refundable' is perhaps ambigous? Anyway, naming names on the forums is likely to result in a locked thread.

This is really the wrong forum entirely for this to be posted in.

I think the point is that Desmonia had a week's rent left but was not going to renew the lease. But the land-owner terminated the lease early without refund upon learning this, which is very bad practise.

/me nods - that is very poor practice for a landlord and I suspect they may think that for the sake of half a week's rent you won't kick up a fuss about it.

You are probably best just to sigh and move on to the next chapter in your SL, you know not to rent with them again and if friends ask for recommended place to rent you will not be recommending your ex-landlord!

Desmonia you really need to remove the names from your post - not to condone what they have done but naming names on the forum is not good practice.

Perhaps I am speaking out of turn, but frankly I am of the opinion that one should always be aware of the consequences of ones misdeeds. If a provider of leasing services is found to be conducting thier business using unfair business practices why not Name and shame them. That is becomming a popular 1st Life option for people wronged By Businesses so why Not in SL?

Ok: Hey, everybody! Sven Rolls ripped me off for L$26. Per terms of the contract, he now owes me L$124,785 which includes interest. Please banz0r him from your stores!!1!

The problem with naming names is that there's usually (at least) two sides to every story and we rarely hear all of it. Who gets to be the judge? No offense to the OP at all but how do we know that they're not making it all up or are misrepresenting what really happened?

Not naming names, though it's pretty annoying sometimes, keeps this place from turning into drama city.

You're not speaking out of turn - just stating your opinion like everyone else here is entitled to...

Whilst people may not disagree with you about naming people who have behaved badly, often on forums you are only hearing one side of the story.

I'm sure there must be plenty of people who deserve to be 'named and shamed' but everyone has the right to be heard and some choose (for whatever reason) not to visit these forums to give their side.

Forums generally try to not take sides on things - rightly or wrongly.

I informed the land holder that I would be posting and invited her/them/him to respond, and even though I havent scrolled to the bottom yet, I see they have not posted.

As to correctness of the forum I chose to post in, I apologize and would ask where I might find a list of forums and what can or cannot be posted in them.

And lastly, why even post if not to point out who the guilty parties are? Or at the very least to "highlight" to current renters not to do what I did "which was show them the courtesy that I was no re-leasing" I should have just quietly moved out and not said a word. However, I choose to treat people how I would like to be treated. It seems that after a certain point, the very wealthy get the impression that the world revolves around them and they answer to no one.

Wrongly. What are you afraid of? Splinters in the arse from sitting on the fence?
