Hello all,
Without making this sound too childish I'd like to lodge a complaint about the unjust banning that's going on. Recently my brother was banned from his account of nearly 5 years. All that lost work, his store, money, scripts, friends calling cards, etc were lost without even a reason why until he called in and pestered the customer support. According to another discovery anyone who's had contact with his account was banned to, including me, even though I haven't been on in 6 months. He lodged an Abuse complaint but still they said he was illegally trafficking lendins.
To reply to that bluntly,...BULL SHIT! I know my brother fairly well and I know how important this silly game has been to him. He relied on it in down times when he lost his job, and a multitude of other things. I would stake almost anything on the factor that he hasn't done anything wrong unless the mods are simple being severely picky and looking for a reason to kick him, in which case, I don't understand why they would do such a thing to such a long time player.
Anyway, I'd just like to say be careful. If something like this can happen to someone as honest as my brother, and they won't even tell him why, then it can happen to anyone else.
Thanks for your time and I do apologize if this is in the wrong spot. It'd be nice if there was an actual Complaints page.

Did he buy or sell Lindens on a non LL approved site, like off of Ebay? If so that is your answer, and it is a legitimate banning as far as LL is concerned.

My brothers always used the Lendins systems to convert his lendins to cash and visa versa. If he needed to buy lendins, which was usually once a year or so he paid for the through paypal. He's never bought them off of Ebay or any other site for that matter. THe possibility of being hacked is so high with that option that none of us consider it.

You should strongly consider that he is being less than completely truthful with you.
Perhaps he is too embarrassed to admit to doing something against the rules. Especially if what he was doing was concerning Linden$.
Illegally trafficking Linden$ is a serious charge that i doubt they append to someone with out solid evidence.

May I ask why they wouldn't at least tell him what it was they were banning him for? They wouldn't tell him anything. They wouldn't even listen to his side of this problem. It just seems like they don't care to me.
I agree that I should consider that my brother might not be honest with me, and I do consider that, but I know him well enough, and how much he cared for this game, to know that he wouldn't do something to lose it. Especially when he depends on it. All I can guess is someone used a hack or something and it traced back to him.
I can understand that this sounds like an irate sister trying to only see her brothers side of the story and no one else, but the support team wouldn't even tell him why he was being banned. He can't even check to see if his account is properly shut down so they don't charge him next moth, etc.
I just think it sucks that he can't even get his friends lists back, or all of his scripts he's worked so hard on, or anything. It really sucks to see all that work gone because fo something he didn't do.

The most frequent response from a lot of RL criminals' families and neighbors is "I had no idea. He seemed like such a nice person....". We can't say how well you know him, and can't question when you say he didn't do anything wrong. Perhaps though, he did something unknowingly. Did he accept a large payment from anybody inworld? Or did he transfer a large sum to an alt or a friend. These are all things that will trigger a suspension almost immediately from LL, they are famous for shooting first and not asking any questions. He should call LL first thing Monday morning for an explanation, and keep calling until he gets one.
Something else, if he has an enemies inworld, they could have reported him for being underaged, that also usually causes an immediate suspension, no matter what.

I see. Thank you for letting me know those things. I've known my brother fairly well. We're both 27 and 25. I'm not very interested in online games, but this was something for us to do. It's interesting to hear how SL shoots first then asks questions later...if at all. I'll let him know to keep bugging them if he wants too.
To be completely honest, I'm more upset than he is. I just don't like seeing family treated so badly. Sorry if I sound like some crazy kid running her mouth off for no reason.
As far as transferring money, its also his speculation that he bought or was paid by someone who was under suspicion and they just shut him down. He's transferred large amounts of lendins to me before, (if 1000 can be considered a large amount). They shut down my account and my friends too because we were connected to him, but we both got ours back. My brother is the only one who wasn't allowed his stuff back.
He's filed an abuse claim already, but they still refused to do anything or even tell him what he did, which is what really sets me off.
Once again, thank you for the advice. I will let him know. Being able to talk this out with other peoples been helping me to understand whats going on as well.

I got banned for three days last november for taking out an "unusually large amount" for christmas shopping. Apparently almost anything can trigger their fraud detectors, and they will suspend the accounts first, and make you call them to straighten things out afterwards.

Yeah, and we did that. That's why my account is on but even after filing a report they refused to reopen his.
