A few things discussed at the last tech townhall. Probably speak to conditions which led to the openletter. Where are things at with: - Data partitioning/abstraction layer
- Backbone
Moving away from proprietary protocols in general, adopting reliable existing solutions such as http/xml
- Texture downloads via HTTP
- New search
As of last townhall, the goal was for some design work in Q1, and some rolling to commence in Q2. Is this on track?
- Is Mono still in the future? Is it near?
---------- A general inquiry: Are there network issues between Dallas and San Francisco that are coming into play when the grid approaches saturation? Can you give us a health report on the network infrastructure as a whole? Where its weaknesses are in performance, bottlenecks, and reliability, and what the network doctor is prescribing for the future to keep it healthy, warm, un-saturated, resiliant, etc? And if I give you a copy of the "zOMGWTFTPME" teeshirt I made, will you wear it at the town hall?

"Is Mono still in the future? Is it near?"
Mono is still in the future. It's not near. The Mono community have fixed the issues that were blocking our integration of Mono, but it's become clear that Mono is going to require extended testing and so we are holding off on further development until it is possible to run a small number of Mono simulators on a grid which can be tested and iterated alongside standard simulators.

OH its that wonderful! mono is not even close and we have to deal YET again the wasteful of sim resouces .........We were told mono was around the corner and was near go. But what now and how long? How long when we can test those simulators your talking about? Or If we are allowed to? Usagi
