Hello,

I'm new to SL, and I have really enjoyed my time here so far. I understand the recent problems, things happen. My main complaint with the last few days is the method by which warnings and notices is given out.

There have been many, many people with missing items, either created or purchased. Not everyone checks the blogs every day. Many times I just log in, build, and log out without checking anything at all.

If possible, we really, really need pop-up notices when there are system wide problems that could result in the loss of inventory. There are many items in SL that aren't cheap, and as we've been reminded by the gambling mess recently L$ are as real as game money gets. It is important to many of us that we only make our transactions in times when they aren't threatened by technical issues.

So, I'd simply ask that whether it be in note card form, periodic system wide notices, etc., that we be notified. I have been on intermittently over the last few days, and have received nothing. Luckily, someone in a group IM posted a quote from a Linden message telling us not to buy no copy items.

Had I not seen that, I would probably be one of the many who have lost things now. The problem is, I should have heard that from LL myself. I am a premium member, and a generally happy one. Why NOT just be honest and tell us when things are far too unstable to make transactions?

The only reason I can think of is PR. Well, this kind of confusion creates far, far more problems with consumer confidence than an open door policy regarding technical problems. Right now I can't search places, so I have to assume that the problems continue. I have to assume because I haven't been told. Each time I have to wonder is a moment wherein I become less enthused about SL.

Thanks again, and accept my congratulations on a wonderful virtual world. The way it has been managed throughout this problem has been less than ideal, and I believe it endangers the future of SL. Without confidence that the virtual is at least stable, then no one will be willing to trust that their investment will be there from one day to the next.

Uploads have apparently again been disabled, no notification given. Had I know that I would have devoted the time making the what I was going to upload to something else. If this continues for much longer, the silence, not the problems, I'll be devoting ALL my SL time to something else.

We should expect the courtesy of at least being notified when services we pay for have been disabled.

Uploads were again working for a while. Upload one image, immediately start to upload another... get the error message. Please, please will you notify us when this stuff is being shut off, and how long it will be? Should I wait a bit, or will I be losing sleep for nothing?

I'm about to bag SL completely. Not because of the problems, every system like this has a catastrophe every now and then. I just really hate the wall they've built. Maybe I'm ranting, too, maybe they'll lock this. I've come to really like SL, I've come to respect LL for their controlled chaos. This Soviet-style curtain of secrecy toward the people that butter their bread is almost beyond the pale.
