Second Life now has an increasingly large international user base, most likely larger than the US user base, what are LL planning to do change their backend system to better support the international user base?

Some possible examples:

Sims based in different locations, possibly bringing down my ping to sim to something around 60 instead of 220?

Multiple Asset Servers, possibly having asset servers mirrored internationally?

Now that LL are setting up offices in Brighton, UK is this planned?

"most likely larger than the US user base"

According to the statistics (http://s3.amazonaws.com/static-secondlife-com/economy/stats_200704.xls, residents by country), 26.78% of players are from the US.

That makes 73.22% not from the US.

The facts speak for themselves, and Linden Lab must expand its international support. There is no question about it.

Hopefully, Cory will have a positive update on where they are at with data partitioning, which is a technical prerequisite to distributing the asset store more liberally (and across international borders). Keep your fingers crossed.

A ping of 220 is bad? Here I am on the east coast of the US and have a ping sim of 200 to 500 when not lagging. I haven't ever had a ping under 100.
