So I'll admit I've been out of the SL loop for a couple months but I have this question.

What happened to First Look? There's no new version to dl and my last version is too old. I can't seem to find the answer in the blogs but then again I'm not going to spend hours fishing through everything.

I want things to look good and smooth! I hate the regular viewer!!

What was the FirstLook viewer, was a beta version of the current client.. there is another beta of the next generation client (1.6 I believe), available on the beta grid.

Hmmm, 1.6 would be good but 1.7 much better. :( :p

See.. put (something here, I believe) and the experts come a flooding out of the woodwork... well.. I'm not sure about this, but I saw a linden blog speaking about 1.6 & 1.7 and 1.16.... guess they weren't good at math..

First Look was an awesome SL client that removed most of the lag and made everything work. It was then scrapped in favor of a much more buggy client that add tons of lag and crashes every minute

Sadly, I can no longer use my desktop to build. Now I need to rely on my laptop which overheats often. :/

I believe you can get a fan assisted 'cooler pad' for your laptop to sit on that helps.. also make sure you clean out all the vents of any dust.

I have one, they aren't powerful enough to really help when your RAM is being accessed that much. I have one with two fans and my laptop still gets hotter than I'd like, though it does take longer.
This might work though.
