Realistic Waters were working before the update for me, and not they are not.
I have the current Nvidia drivers for SLI 8800GTULTRA and having same issues with transparency and cant see the Realistic Water's even though I have everything selected :(

I have the HD 2600 Pro card, can't see the water effects and shiny objects become transparent. Seems to be a known issue, there is a jira for it. Guess we'll just have to wait for a fix.

I have the Radeon HD 2600 Pro in my iMac and on it everything appears as it should, except for the ground texture being incorrect. Maybe it's a driver issue?

Ive got the 2900 Pro and get exactly the same problem, have fiddled with the settings via the ATI Tray Tools but still dont change, must be the driver.

Everyone is always so quick to blame the drivers. As this seems to be happening to both Ati and Nvidia cards maybe it's not the drivers at all. Maybe it's SL !

For ATI users, the bug has been filed via Jira, please vote for it:

I have spent a long time testing out different drivers, and as i said the 169 series are broken with windlight, and any driver before them work fine,so please don't tell me i'm blaming the drivers so quickly, and if i'm correct you have an ati card so you don't even know about the nvidia drivers.

The drivers worked fine, LL changed something, now it's borked. If the script monkeys can't code for the tech, even tho they have the specs for it, they are the ones at fault not the card makers. If the drivers work fine for everything else, how is it the drivers when SL is borked?

History has been confirmed by LL themselves when they published the bug metrics, they have more bugs being introduced than they actually fix. What this could mean is, they have several departments of 'fixers' all using different versions of the base code. When a fix is done, that section is added to the base code, and collated. Unless the whole code set is worked on at the same time by one source, it cannot be fully tested in realtime. Once the codesets are compiled, how do you then test for every possible combination of systems? You can't.

Havoc4 at serverside will be a boon to the average user. Perhaps LL intend to release a brand new, from the ground up coded client? Personally, I'd prefer the client to develop along the lines of the vast majority of clients, in relying on the framework of a Internet Browser with api call pluggins. Your browser knows more about your system, than LL can predict in a single 'jack of all trades' client. If that wasn't so, then every peice of software we buy would still come with its own selection of print drivers like the old days.
