
I've been noticing significantly fewer particles being rendered in the firstlook client than the main production client.
Short draw distance values help some, but larger values for draw distance can really gut the nearby visible particle effects.
I'm loving the frame rate boost that the firstlook client gives, the smoothness it adds to moving objects is really beautiful. (I was actually rather blown away to see 150fps reported during one of the "first look isle" tests! Previously standing at the edge of the known world and looking off into non-sim space only got me up to 80fps!)
Anyway... I'm curious if others have noticed this same thinning-out of particles in the firstlook clients?
I'd be happy to supply before and after shots of effects if anyone is curious.
