Before Reformat, Second Life WindLight worked fine. I didn't adjust anything except the settings inside WindLight itself. I just installed it, and ran it. I've had SL installed on this laptop for the past 4 months. I was aware, when I installed it on this laptop, that the gfx card on here was not compatible. It worked fine regardless.
I reformatted last night and came to the surprise today that WindLight didn't want to start up, error being that my Gfx card was not supported. Umm, why now and not before? I tried setting come compability settings to it, such as: Disable visual themes, Disable desktop composition, and Run in Windows XP SP2 mode.

Update = Crash

Okay, I updated the driver software Via Driver Properties. Now SecondLife get's past the error and tries to start up, then crashes immediately.

So you are not only running SL on an unsupported GC, but the Windlight client?
When you reformatted, there is a good chance that you deleted some shared DLL's from programmes you may have not reinstalled.
You can also uncheck the 'check hardware on next startup' as that sometimes lets you in with unsupported GC's, which is checked by default, when you reinstalled the new client.
In the new Graphics tab, click the Hardware button and make sure nothing in that window is checked. Turn the graphics slider to LOW.

For one, it IS a supported graphics card.
Secondly, Second Life [None of the three clients] even open, period. There is no way for me to get to any of the graphics tabs if SL doesn't even open. It flashes the main window (the login window) and that's it.

Are you using the same version of Windlight as you did before? The new login screen is causing Windlight and the new RC to crash on some computers.

Longshot, try Nicholaz viewer here: http://nicholaz-beresford.blogspot.com/Now are you sure that you installed the /exact/ same video drivers you had when SL was running before as well? video driver updates can break SL usage as easily as fix it.

To tell you the truth, I can't recall installing any video drivers in the session before i reformatted. I guess whatever drivers Vista installed is what I had. In that case, I should have had the same drivers as before.
As for the version of Windlight.. well I had the latest version there was before i reformatted.. so unless there was an update in the 24 hours I didn't have it installed, I should have had the same version..
*Downloading Nicholaz version..* *Nope, same result.*
And Kevin, what about the default viewer's login screen? I installed all three viewers [default, rc, windlight] and they all have the same outcome.

What did you do? It might be useful for someone in a similar situation if you document your fix.
