Eeek! Parts of me keep going transparent!

Hi all!

I have a lil problem, parts of my avie keep going transparent! Its pretty annoying! lol... It seems to be mainly the top area, espec the breast area! I am using Emerald and have no attachments there as far as I am aware, does anyone have any clue?

Do you have the breast physics thingie enabled? Did you try rebaking your textures? (ctrl + alt + R)

If it's your head, or your whole body from neck ro waist, or from waist and below, that is a bug introduced with client code version 1.23. It can temporarily be solved by a character rebake, but will keep coming back.

If it is ONLY the breast area, that's probably a glitch in Emerald's new "Bouncy breasts" patch.

I have turned off the Emerald bouncy boobies! I have tried rebaking...now I am at a loss, its only just started happening.

I think I may have fixed it now, totally uninstalled everything and downloaded again, making sure I had all up to date releases and patches.

Hummm. That's not the 1.23 client bug. Must be an Emerald glitch.

I get that now and then, and occasionally see it on others, too:



Sometimes it's not transparent, but part of the scenery around me. Very rarely it's part of my desktop. Often it's around my hands and calves, or the whole side of my av facing the camera. Because the texture varies so much, I suspect that going transparent is just a coincidence (it picks up a full alpha texture from the background/cache/video memory). A rebake cures it, although sometimes it comes straight back. After a second rebake I rarely see it again in the same session.

might have to do with the support for aplha channel in skins that is being worked on, we just had a reloing restart of the sims last week

Yes. In 1.23 they started the code changes to allow Alpha transparency in skins, but they botched it so far. The result is that sometimes an alpha texture, like in the hair above, makes skin behind and near it vanish. And sometimes it makes the whole tattoo layer vanish.

I've also recently seen a LOT of cases where my skin and clothing layers get replaced by chunks of desktop or other windows on the screen. In each case a characte rrebake temporarily fixes it, but the client is definitely extremely buggy on this point.

I think its something to do with the emerald viewer...my partner keeps on complaining that my breasts have gone invisible...and he uses emerald (I dont) I see my breasts all the time perfectly

I was about to chime in and say that I have had just the same sort of problem for a bit now, but today I upgraded my graphics card drivers (Nvidia version 191.07) and since then not a single problem. Yay?

Holes in the chest area are probably a specific Emerald viewer issue. This is one of the posts in a related thread about the missing breasts on the forums for Modular Systems:

The "hole in the chest" bug can be worked around. Open your "Advanced" menu and select "Debug Settings" (CTRL ALT SHIFT S). Type "RenderFarClip" in the textbox and memorize the value. Set the value to 0 for a few seconds, then put it back to the old number. The chest holes should be gone now.

I hate to break it to you, but all of that uninstalling and reinstalling and everything else were all unnecessary and will not help your problem. The images you posted show a known bug with Emerald's new breast physics. The only workaround is to either leave the feature disabled, or log out and log back in again if it happens. I remember seeing something about setting draw distance down to minimum, waiting a few seconds, and then setting it back again, but that trick hasn't worked for me.
