I was making necklaces and loved doing it, they were scripted to change the birthstone, but when wearing the necklace a lot of times I was unable to touch them to do the birthstone changes....

I did a work around by putting an transparent box around the gem part, so it could be clicked on

it seems the inability to touch was a bug I was not aware of

sooooo if you have jewelry or other attached items you should be able to touch to interact with, and it doesn't let you touch them... rest assured they know about it, and have fixed it in the release client...

Fixed: VWR-10460[c]: raytrace picking can't Edit or touch items that cross the avatar mesh

(edit to add, if this was discussed before please forgive me, I have been a little out of touch lately)

Omg

hangs head in shame, that was soooo not intentional!! LOL that was baaaad

(in another game, while on ventrilo with the guild members, I was being my usual punny self with really bad puns and was told I was gonna be sent to the bottom of the list... whatever that means... for my awful puns LOL)

seriously though the edit was very unintentional and I did not see it was a pun till now LOL

also seriously if anyone has had issues with this stupid bug, thank god they fixed it in the RC

(I thought I was doing something wrong when making the pendants, for a while they worked, then suddenly they just stopped being able to be touched, without putting the box around the gem so it had a prim that stuck out further)

blech sometimes SL annoys me LOL

I wonder if this problem existed in the released viewer, which used a quite different algorithm for figuring out where in the scene to associate a touch to a mouse click. It was definitely a problem with earlier versions of the RC--they actually warned us about it, until it was "tuned". I had horrible problems in RC4 with selecting specific sides of prims in the editor, but I too noticed that it's very much improved in this new RC5.

when I use the current standard viewer it was doing it to me

I got tired of the nvidea bug so switched to the RC and noticed it said I had to update it so was reading the notes on the bug fixes and this was one... so....

*shrug*

being I worked around the issue by using the extra prim I can't be certain it was continuing to do it though

Thanks Rhaorth. I've been using these RCs since the first 1.22 viewer because of the extremely cool ability for scripts to know where a touch occurs on the surface of a prim. That's long enough that I can't remember much about how the standard viewer behaves.

I am so anxious for this to become the standard viewer, and for all the third party ones to catch up with supporting that feature or die off.

Interesting. That explains a few anomalies I have seen. Glad to hear they are fixing it.
