Hi guys,
Thanks for all help in my other threads, I've matured a lot in SL in the past few days and having a great time.
I have just one small issue that I can't figure out. Above my head (like the equivalent of maybe 1-2 feet) is always a small bright circle.
I thought maybe it was related to something I'm wearing or that is attached, so I detached everything, removed all my clothes, and it's still there.
Is this normal (maybe it's so that I can see my avator in a large group of people?) If so can I disble this?
Or is this some kind of bug?
Thanks Nidania Nightfire in SL

That dot indicates that you have Voice Enabled. If you were to speak using Voice, it would turn green to indicate you are speaking.
If you did not intend to have Voice enabled, you can turn it off in Edit > Preferences in the menu.

Hi Nidania
The dot shows that you have voice activated. Other avatars with voice activated should also show a dot above their heads. You can deactivate voice in preferences somewhere (sorry can't remember the name of the tab it's on).

It is the voice chat indicator. When no sound is being broadcast (you're not chatting) you see the single dot. While speaking a growing green wave will eminate from the dot indicating speech. The same green indicator will appear above other avatars when they are speaking.

I was also wondering about something else that happens to me often.. I don't know if it means my video card isn''t great, or if it's a problem with my Internet connection, or just that I'm on a laggy sim?
But quite often, as I'm walking around, random shapes (like large pointy triangles) appear randomly on the screen, sometimes they go away on their own as I walk around, other times the pointy parts seem to me stuck to me and stretch and follow as I walk.
Kind of hard to explain but probably you know what I'm talking about.
Why does this happen? Anything I can do to help prevent this?
Thanks

Are they red and blue, or green? They could possibly be updates... you can check this by disabling updates... ctrl-alt-shift-U.

Thanks That's a graphics glitch that apparently only affects certain graphics cards. I see it quite a lot. When it happens, you can clear it by teleporting. You can even teleport to your current location by double clicking your location on the map. To prevent it, I think you'd have to switch your brand of graphics card like I will be doing whenever I upgrade my computer next time.

I have seen that triangle wackiness when my lappy is getting to hot. I turn down some graphics to keep the heat in check.(draw distance, shaders etc) In my case, being in a very prim intensive area triggers it.
Now, on a lighter note...that white dot.
Most will tell you it is the voice thing..but....i have a different theory.
It is the very rare and elusive albino firefly(Coleoptera: SLampyridae). I have even seen them grow funny colored wings!! ((joking of course))

From: Nidania Nightfire ahhh ok thanks guys, I will disable that when I log in next. Oh, don't do that. Don't you want to know what other avatars around you are using voice? And at least overhear what they are saying? If you disable voice, you not only get rid of your dot, but everybody's dot. You don't have to actually SAY anything...
