1. Your front page tells me there is an OPTIONAL download of SL available
2. Logging in to SL tells me I must download a MANDATORY new version 1.18.2.1
3. I go to download it and it's giving me 1.18.2.0 ----- which I already have ?
Jeez guys, sort yourselves out for chri**ake.

Ok, NOW the Download page is giving me 1.18.2.1, but my point is, why the hell couldn't they make sure it was up and ready BEFORE telling us we had an optional mandatory version to download?
Or is it just another case of LL crapping on Mac users?

Marvellous I downloaded the update, installed it, started Second Life and got a message that I need to download the update. Which I'm doing now.
Someone got a little excited about this new update and didn't roll out it properly didn't they!

1. Your front page tells me there is an OPTIONAL download of SL available
2. Logging in to SL tells me I must download a MANDATORY new version 1.18.2.1.... LL rarely reads the forum, you're stuck with us There are 3 versions of interest: 1. The new mandatory version, 1.18.2.1. This replaces the previous released voice client. [For Nicholaz users, there is not yet a Nicholaz viewer for this version, as of 4pm SLT] 2. The "optional" release candidate, 1.18.3.4 (or 1.18.3.3-RC). This has not changed, however the download link to it from the main login page has, oddly, been changed to point to 1.18.2.1 . Nevertheless, I believe 1.18.3.3/4 still works and is not subject to the security exploit that they're fixing with 1.18.2.1 (because these exploit links always launch the actually released client). It is entirely likely that if you are using the release candidate version, you will not be prompted to change to the "mandatory" new version ... this would in fact be a downgrade for you. [The Nicholaz viewer to use with this version is currently 18xm]. If anyone can verify/correct this info about the optional release candidate, please do. It is available at: http://s3.amazonaws.com/release-candidate-secondlife-com/Second%20Life%201-18-3-3%3. The old non-voice viewer. It's dead, Jim. If you try to log in with it, you will be prompted to upgrade to the version released today. Of course, you could alternatively opt to upgrade to the release candidate version. [NOTE: Nicholaz released an "oldschool" version today that will permit you to keep using the oldschool version. yay!] Interestingly, I snuck in with an old non-voice viewer after the maintenance this morning but before the new viewer was posted, and seem to be running fine. As long as I never log out again, I'm all set.

I'm getting an error stating that DNS cannot resolve the host name. Does anyone know what this is or how to fix it please? SL was working fine for me before this update

It actually appears after click the connect button to login, and when I start up SL instead of showing a picture of my last location ( since that is how I set my login preference ), and all the SL stats and such its just the default SL screen

I believe the correct url for the latest release candidate is http://s3.amazonaws.com/release-candidate-secondlife-com/Second%20Life%201-18-3-4%20Release%20Candidate%20Setup.exeThat's the latest test version, the "Release Candidate", not the new mandatory version with the security fix.
