I'm coming to you all because I've hit a snag in my avatar. theres several instances of what is happeneing so i'll number them 1 : When I Equip gloves, the gloves also cloth my upper body in the top the gloves came with. example. I have a tshirt and gloves. I put on just the gloves, and suddenly I have hte Tshirt
2 : When I go into appearance and attempt to create a article of clothing, I am unable to edit it and that article of clothing covers my entire body in that clothing area. example. I create an undershirt, it cloths my entire upper body, and I cannot edit it.
please help! Rebake isnt working and this is driving me nuts :*(

And I'll bet you're using an nVidia card! Some SL textures are not being rendered correctly by nVidia drivers newer than the 175 series...this is an nVidia issue, not an SL one, although LL plans to stop using palletized textures sometime in the nearish future to remedy the problem. Try Advanced menu > Rendering > Features > uncheck Palletized Textures If you don't see the Advanced menu, hit Ctrl-Alt-D. After unchecking Palletized Textures, Rebake (Ctrl+Alt+R), possibly a couple of times. This will have to be done at every login or, if you have a card that supports the older drivers, you can also roll them back. Edit: Oh, and that 'Equip' line must mean you play - or have played - a more traditional MMO.

funny, running my other comp with the newer drivers I never have that issue...
on the note of having to do that every logon, I believe the nicholaz viewer makes all those sticky so you don't have to

you know, it seems to me that the blame is laied at Nvidia feet, yet before the update this did not happen.. and now we have to wait for LL to make another update to keep that turned off????
Mind boggling.. I can not even enjoy SL because either Im crashing, rebaking or unclecking things in my advanced menu, that I have to do again because I crash again... 5 time today i crashed... 5 times today within a 2 hour time frame I've had to apply this setting and once my eyelashes never returned to their normal color..
I also have one skin I just LOVE and it is completly useless to me as the head is darker than the rest of the body and no amount of rebaking or disabling helps.
it seems to me all the video cards on SL have issues....... maybe I need onboard generic video ??

Do others see you in this way when this happens, if they dont then the problem could indeed by your graphics card/drivers.
Ive had a similar problem for a few days now, only in my case my whole AV looks like the "milk tray" man except for my feet, thing is others see me this way so Im figuring its an SL bug.

On the Nvidia issue, I have just undergone a steep learning curve over the weekend, having installed the new drivers in an effort to resolve an unrelated monitor issue. First I installed the 178 drivers, and accepted the inevitable messed avatar clothing, but when reverted to the 175 driver, the problem did not disappear. Eventually (for the benefit of others who may experience the same frustration) I found two problems - first I had installed the beta version of 175 in error. Second, I believe it necessary to 'uninstall' the current driver before implementing the new one, to avoid any conflicts between drivers? I did this anyway, and have finally got back to a clean avatar (fingers crossed). The good news is that I know more about my system now than I did, which has impressed my son no end ...

That is where the problem is
