I'm not talking about in Group chat, I'm talking about being added to a "mailing list" when I buy something, or in some cases when I simply walk through a store. Now I have objects sending me offlines about websites and services I never even heard of, but they've grabbed my name from somewhere and decided I care.
Is there something I can do about that? I know there's opt in versions so that people can get updates from a store without using a group slot, but I have never knowingly opted in for these. Is putting a "Do not add me to your mailing list" message in my profile enough, or is it automated?
It's driving me batty, for every 1 group notice I get from groups I actually WANTED to join, I'm getting 2 mailing list type messages.
Blargh.

Blargh. Hi, just mute those, who send it out, that should do it. Otherwise, tell them to stop, if they don't then make an abuse report. |

Yes, I have muted a few, but I'm finding that I keep ending up on these dratted lists. Is it against TOS for people to be added without opting in?
