Hi Everyone...
I have a big problem and I need some help.
I bought a rez-faux house for L$6000, have rezzed it several times and it's horribly disconnected. Enormous gaps everywhere! I've had experienced builder friends come to the construction site and try to help, but they can't so anything with it either. They have all suggested that I contact the builder/designer and have them come and make it right.
I agree, but the only problem is that the builders won't answer my friend requests so I can IM them. (It's a company of 2 people and neither are responding.)
What can I do now? Please help! Any advice you can give would be truly appreciated.
Thanks, new friends!

Hi Pink. Welcome to the forum. Unfortunately you are doing all you can for the situation. You don't have to friend them btw.. you can IM them from the first page of their profile. Be patient, sometimes people take some time to log in due to RL stuff. Another option besides IMing them is to make a notecard (in your inventory select notecard folder, right click and click "create notecard" explaining the problem and pass it to them via their profile. Often IMs get capped and they may not see your message, but a notecard usually gets where you need it to. Good luck. Also, did your builder friends get permission to edit your items on your friends list? If so they should have been able to edit the pieces together for you. Only give those permissions to someone you can trust and be sure to revoke them when they are done.

Thanks Macphisto... you taught me a few things I didn't know. (I'm such a newbie!) I will try your suggestions and let you know if there is any progress. Anyone else?

Why do you try to befriend the creator just to send an IM? There's no need for that. In fact, incoming friend requests from a stranger (unless you talked to either one of the company prior to your purchase) might add the impression that you are some kind of spamer...
Anyway, carefully describe or even visualize your problem in a notecard and kindly ask them to come over to your home and have a look at the problem. Then drop that notecard onto their profiles - right where it says "Drop inventory item here.". It has the little benefit that you see if they accepted the item or declined it.
To create a notecard, right click on My Inventory and select New Note from the menu. A new file named "New Note" will appear in you Notecards folder, which you can edit. Rename it to something like "Customer Support request", perhaps even add your name to the title, but at least sign the note with your name correctly spelled, so you can be looked up in search and identified.
To add photos to illustrate your problem, first make a snapshot in SL, then upload the pic and make sure that all permissions are given so you can pass it on. Simply drag the uploaded image from the Inventory folder into the open notecard and save. The same can be done with landmarks.

I have heard that rezzing devices like the rez faux have been having issues lately. Might do a search of the Jira to see if anyone has found a solution.
This might well be a case of the rezzing and not the builder.

I noticed sometimes when I rez something from a rez faux I have to move the box up a bit then things snap together, did you try that yet?

Well first off, you may be rezzing it too close to the ground. Last time I used rez Faux, if part of the house tried to rez in the ground it would distort. Try building a prim up above the ground to rez the box on, then edit it back down to the ground once it has rezzed perfectly. Another thing, personally, if I get a friend request from someone I do not know, I decline it. just send them an IM or a notecard instead. They don`t need to be on your friends list, or online, for you to reach them. From: Pink Sommerfeld

Sometimes when you rez near the property line, it can tear your home apart. If this is possibly the case, find a larger land that you can quickly rez your home to see if that is the problem. Any land on mainland thats for sale is likely to have a 1 minute autoreturn time, enough time to quickly test rezzing your home.

It is probably not a Rez-Faux problem at all, but a Sim problem when things get fishy with the asset server. Place the Rez-Faux box close to where it should be and rez the package, then =wait= until the rez looks completely rezzed - do not click on the Save button unless it looks correct. This can take some time depending on the complexity of the build. Sometimes, clicking on the Derez and then Rez it again will help as well.

I've used Rez-Faux for several years now and I can say that without it I wouldn't have a business. The jumble problem sounds too familiar. Rhoarth and Jesseaitui both highlight known problems with Rez-Faux. Large and complex builds will rezz too slowly nowadays due to the 'grey-goo' gate implemented by Linden Lab. The answer is, as Rhoarth mentioned, to jog the rezzing box up and then down a bit. This forces it to re-align all the sections. Also, the Rez-Faux is unable to position an object correctly if and when the root prim would end up being below ground level. For customers or end-users the workaround is to rez your build well above ground level and then to lower it into place. For builders the workaround is to link your object prims in such a way as to make sure that the root prim of each object is above ground level. Sometimes I even add a small prim that will hide in the wall in order to make sure that ground floors and foundations will sit properly in the ground. Dytska's suggestion can help too as large builds can take a while to call up all the sections from the database.

From: Lillith Hapmouche ...To add photos to illustrate your problem, first make a snapshot in SL, then upload the pic and make sure that all permissions are given so you can pass it on... For clarity; the default permissions of most things you'll make in SL will allow you to Transfer them (give them away) *only*. I think this is the case for Snapshots (from memory). To change those permissions, you can right-click on it in Inventory, choose "Properties" from the drop-down list, and tick all the "Next Owner Can" checkboxes (ie copy-transfer-modify). I haven't tried it but I think you need to do this otherwise the receiver won't be able to read your Notecard (if it's no-modify). Copy-able is safer in case there are database issues :-/ (For completeness) LMs and Notecards (I think) have full-permissions by default. Here endeth the tutorial! HTH

Pink,if you still can not get hold of the creator, do feel free to 'friend' me, and I will happily try and help you with your house. I am an experienced house builder, and have used Rez-Faux and other rezzers many times. If you are prepared to trust me with permission to edit your prims, I am sure that we can sort out this issue (assuming there is not some huge fault with the house, hehe). Like the others, I suspect it could be where you are rezzing. Rez-Faux does get a little cranky if parts of the build will be underground or over a sim line, for example. I configure my prefabs so this shouldn't happen, but not all builders do this. Besides, even the best thought-out rezzer can sometimes decide to act odd, hehe. Anyway, IM me any time, I am always happy to try and help folks
