No, it's not one of *those* threads.

From the Blog http://blog.secondlife.com/2008/06/03/sl5b-birthday-expanded-and-new-submission-deadlines/

"Resident organizers will review the applications, and if accepted, builders can be in any avatar form they choose "

I want to attend SL5B, and want to make sure I'm adequately dressed.
Who makes the best child avatars?

Without trying to sound like I'm shamelessley plugging, I would suggest Robin Sojourner's Kick The Can store on Livingtree (with additional locations in Tiny Tykes on Guardian Island and Inner Child Depot in Fletcher). She made my skin, and does some great kid skins and shapes for boys and girls.

She also does clothing. For other outfitters, I'd suggest Chelsea's Children's Clothes, Babydoll's Boutique, Bunny Creek, and Angelina's Little Girls' Clothes for girls, and Loki's (on Goony Island) and, um, that other place int he Primborium mall for boys.

Tami McCoy has some great kid hair, but most places that sell smaller sized and/or modifyable hair should work.

If I attend SL5B at all, it will most definitely be as a child avatar. Since I don't have one at the moment, recommendations will be appreciated.

Elisa - Try out skins from Lumiere Kids Skins and kids body shapes from Livie's Little Shapes.
Both our main shops are next to each other on Plush Giga sim....we probably have one of the largest selections in SL and growing all the while! We also have a 2nd set of shops on the Plush Enigma sim too.

Dark Dhrama I believe makes the best child realistic baby avatars.
And you don't have to wear the attachments the faces are still pretty good.

I wear normal adult clothes - they scale down just fine, so long as they don't use prims. If they use prims, you gotta adjust the prims of course, which may not be possible.

So, go ahead and use adult clothes if you want. Just so long as they're not, you know, "adult" adult clothes.

OOh reminds me... I still have my lil furs huskey... It was a spur of the moment buy for trying to be the cutest most obnoxiously cuddly thing I could make... but now got a kani... so it's regulated to my dusty avatar folders

One nice thing about Robin Sojourner's kid skins and avatars that she sells at Kick The Can store on Livingtree, is that those skins are completely PG in 'detailing'. Nothing shows that is sexually suggestive at all, not even chest nipples. Yet if you also want to have an "older version" of the same avatar, such as a grown-up version of your little kid form, at her Avatar shop in the same sim, she sells matching skins that have adult makeup and detailing. My daughter Reisuki did that. She has a G-rated kid skin for her Human kid form, plus an adult skin with makeup for her "all grown up" form. The face on the older version that has matching skin tone and hair color is clearly the "same girl" as her younger form, but with older features and makeup.

I have 3 child avatars including clothes and the tiny tootsie shoes (they are smaller than the usual size 0 shoe so look cool on kids)

just drop by the store and have a look, you never know, you might like them

(I do not remember if the shape is mod or not, if it isn't let me know and I will send a mod/copy shape (if you purchase a package)

I am not in world to check them, need to update them

my kids skins are fully skins, nothing hidden, however shading is at a minimum on the breasts and such
they can be used as adult skins if someone wanted a shadeless, makeup less skin (I did it this way so folks can grow up in the same skin)

Ran across Annabelle this evening over at Bay City. Great job on the av. Also saw the ginormous build behind your new construction, Mari. Kinda figures. I was riding Drifter, my Clydesdale, but he wasn't quite strong enough to knock down the wall. :-)

Edit to add: /me waves at Dakota as well. Did you both stay out of trouble after I left?

I did't tink megaprims were allowed on mainland.

I didn't inspect it to see it was a megaprim. No wonder Drifter couln't knock it over. I suspect creator/owner perms played a role, too. :-)

Have you seen the region I'm in? Our neighboring sims don't exactly like our "giant strawberries & tea party" theme so they have a 100x100x1 Reflective prim up. (o.o)

I won't complain though... It makes a clean backdrop for my cookie jar and it doesn't encroach. And, their cabins are so poorly made and full of gaps that I kinda' don't want to see them myself. (=_=)y

It's nice that Linden Labs made a reasonable decision on this issue. Instead of making hard, arbitrary rules to protect them from making decisions, Linden Labs will instead trust its staff to make decisions.

I hope that the end result is that this turns out so well, that Linden Labs will take a similar approach to other content decisions (like what's "Mature" and what's "PG" generally).

Slipping back into subject and adding another shameless NCI plug...

The NCI freebie wall has a loli avatar available with a full perms shape, a properly shaded skin, one of the best freebie prim hair's I've ever seen, and a pretty cute and complete outfit. It really is child-like, so you don't have to assume it's only for precocious lolitas. I usually can put on a pair of jeans and a halter or tank top to look totally like a SLC. (^_^)

My own shape is a mod of the "Low Age Loli" shape from that package. The only down side is that a lot of people have used that shape without adding their own personal touches. So you're running the risk of joining the loli-clone-army by using it in it's original state. (=_=)y
