Runaway object

Oh Brann went and broke something again...

Was going to call for help via IM chat yesterday but that seems to be broken, too.

I purchased a huddle-thing yesterday at the Animation Warehouse. The one for around 600L, not the super deluxe one.

Following the instructions on the card, I rezzed the huddle onto the floor so that I can install the no-trans dances into it.

It's been gone ever since. I saw me "pointing" to the floor but nothing appeared. Nor did I receive an error message. This was at my house and never had trouble rezzing things there before. Nothing in my inventory (including lost and found and trash). Nothing stuck under the building.
Mahdu came out to help me look around and even went and looked at 0,0,0. (For some reason there was an avatar down there, but that's probably a whole separate weirdness)

I have the other huddle pieces (landmark, dance ball etc) in my folder, but not the huddle itself.
There is no one to contact on the card but it did direct me to their forum here at this site. So far, no answer.

What now?

That happened to me also, and it was several hours before it reappeared in my inventory.

contact the creator and explain it went awol along with the transaction id from "my account" so they can confirm you bought it

do it in a notecard along with this text to prevent im capping

try walking around. i have the huddles and had the zhao 2. the zhao was visible only form one side. the huddles maybe also.

edit> if i remember correctly, isn't the huddles copyable? if you don't have anything in the one you rezzed .. just abandon it.

Only the Deluxe version, which is not the one she purchased.

It is possible that it simply poofed as nocopy objects occasionally do. However:

Did you look inside and underneath the floor?

Have you cleared cache etc.?

and, last but not least, you could use a simple object scanner while standing where you were - it will report the nearest 16 objects, listing names.

Fwiw, when editing AO's (invariably very small objects), I rez a dark red rug and do it at a specific place on the rug. That way, should I lose sight of it, I know exactly where it last was ... or should be.

I also never edit AOs when there is any packet loss at all.

Did you try turning on View > Highlight Transparent? Sometimes if things are totally trans you can't select them until they're highlighted...

Alternatively, if it's scripted, would turning on beacons help you to pinpoint it..?

I bought a pair of thigh high boots from Sze a looong time ago. They did some upgrade and part of the set poofed. Can you believe months later it showed up in my inventory.

That's better than showing up your arse after a tp, isn't it?


I've only ever had pleasant experiences with sellers sending me stuff again that got eaten by SL.

Brann, did you try editing the house, and check the contents of the floor prim where you tried to rezz the poseball?

I've had times where an item was placed into the contents of another, while trying to rezz something on top of said prim...instead of simply rezzing on top of it, as would be expected.

Wonderful news on the seller however!!
