SLX Terminals and Lindex ATMs: do they bring you more traffic?

I am considering placing an SLX terminal, and perhaps a Lindex ATM as well, at one of my business locations. The assumption is that this will drive more traffic to the business, especially the SLX terminal, because the user can view the list of locations on the SLExchange website.

So, have any of you found this to be the case? If you are a merchant, did it bring you more foot traffic? More importantly, did it increase sales, or did they just make their transaction and tp away? And if you are a person seeking a terminal, what influenced your choice of where to go? Did you browse around in the area before leaving? Did you buy anything? Do you plant to go back to the store later?

I ask only because my prims are at a premium, and I don't want to give them up to the terminals if it doesn't bring much extra business and visibility. But I also do like the idea of having them available as a public service, too. I just don't know if I should grab a couple of 16k squares for some extra prims, or save my money.

I am not as interested in putting out HippiePay and some of those other gimmicks that give you money when people fill out surveys. (Unless someone tells me that it has brought them a ton of extra business!)

Thanks for any and all feedback.

I have the SLX terminal and On-Rez at my location. I don't think it drives any extra traffic to my location. But then, since the move to my sim, I haven't seen a lot of traffic anyway...lol

Be very very careful before putting up an SLX terminal. You will be charged 500L for moving it, for any reason, if it's been within 30 days of placement.

I keep the terminals simply for the convenience of my shoppers.

Personally I only go the the terminals at the SLX Headquarters, I am not as trusting of those at other locations as they may be "Fakes". Call me paranoid but it works to keep my L$ safe.

I do the same thing. I only use SLX and OnRez terminals at their HQ's.

same here, only the slex headquarters
and onrez I use the wallet (not sure but I think you have to use the wallet)

I used to have an slex atm but removed it when I redesigned a couple redesigns ago and never put it back
I have an onrez, and metacard ATM's already placed
I have the lindex one in my inventory I keep forgetting to rez hehe

might make a custom one and just use the scripts from it (if it is mod, can't remember)

do not see any difference in traffic

Since I use my own terminals to put my own money into SLX, I consider them quite safe.

There's nothing that can go wrong if you make sure that the dialog box that comes up says that you're paying "SLXTerminal Bigwig."

As a consumer, I go and search for the SLX terminal in-world, and very rarely look around much or buy anything in the location. And when the terminal is hard to find, I get pissed off and leave, and feel like I was just spammed for my time. I would estimate that the benefit to your business would be minimal, if you're really that hard pressed for prims.

I have a resident who wanted a terminal at his house. So I got it for him. It's quite funny now that we residents just have to walk over to his house when we need to use the ATM. But he's a sociable sort, and just likes having the visitors drop in. It must be just like that "Making copies" guy on Saturday Night Live.

I check the list of locations that offer terminals from the SLX website so I feel secure. In fact, I'm embarrassed to say I didn't know there was a SLX headquarters to buy them from. :o

I have had them in two locations.

In the first it brought a LOT of traffic, but in the second, nada.

No extra traffic at all here. I removed them.

There's an SLX terminal in the next sim to my home, on land owned by my landlord, and I always use that, just like I nearly always use the RL ATM nearest my home or work.

When I used to use other SLX terminals, I would find it on the website, tp in, get my money and go, would only stay long enough to register as traffic if the payment was slow or if something caught my eye at the location. If a shop looked like somewhere I might shop anywhere, or was a very nice build, I might look around, but usually straight in and out.

I had one on my land for a while. It was convenient, but it didn't really bring me a lot of traffic. It was deleted a few months ago, because someone placed an invisible prim over it. Yes, the usual ATM scam :( I hadn't noticed myself, but got a message from SLX - apparently somebody tipped them off. I felt pretty embarassed and still don't know how the scammer pulled that one off, since I have a no-build area with auto-return. Anyway, that kinda scared me off, so I haven't put one back on my land. I don't want people to get scammed on my grounds. I just go to the SLX headquarters now, that's fine with me.
