Having problems at dance/camp clubs

Hello,

I hope that I'm posting in the correct place first off. My problem is when I'm at any dance club and I'm camping, everything was fine at first. Starting 3 days ago, when I had to guess the blue menu with the letter/number combination at the top right hand of the corner to prove I'm not a robot or AFK, the letters suddenly got stuck on "EW" which was incorrect and it knocked me off the dance pad and I could no longer camp. I tried other dance clubs and I had the same problem with the letters always saying "EW." No other letter or numbers combinations ever come up now except the dreaded "EW." I tried clearing my cache, rebooting, & installing the latest version of SL. I have no scripts running and I detached all of my AO's. Can anyone help me with this please? I depend on camping for Lindens. Thanks so much!

Hmmmm. I haven't heard of this - but since it is a well formed question and was in danger of falling off the front page here without more than a couple of views, I figured I'd give it a bump. I know I'd be bummed if it were me and I was relying on a few bucks from camping to feed my SL fun.

Everything I can think of says that this just shouldn't be happening - unless it's a networked system of camping stations and you happen to be only working within the same network and it's down/messed up/broken. Button text is button text and generated on the server side. There is no real way to hijack it. You could be wearing something that can hear it and hide you actual menu with another one - but your camping menu should still appear behind that.

TIP: I can't guarantee any success here, but if you right click on the camping unit and select "Edit" - in the general tab you will get two bits of information here that could be useful. One is the "owner" of the camping unit. The other is the person who created it. You might send an IM to the owner and ask if they have heard of such a thing. (It might have had a script crash inside and simply needs a reset).

Although, since you didn't purchase the camping bot, the creator of it is under no real obligation to help you, but if you send them a message (always check a person's profile and see if they have a preference between sending a notecard - name it something useful and informative, not just "new note" - or sending an IM. If not, either will usually do... anyway - I digress...

If you IM the creator and describe the problem and let them know you're not asking for money or whimpering - but just asking if they might have heard of the situation or if it might be a bug in their programming that you might be able to provide some insight on... something like that. The creator might have heard of the situation before too - and might have a fix or be able to use some of the clues you can provide to track down just what is happening.

Unfortunately, the more rare your situation is - the harder it will likely be for anyone to be able to figure it out. But it's worth trying.

I've discovered a few camp pads that were set up for bots to use... nobody else could use them.

They would get kicked off... but certain avatars were not.

It was either the group tag, or a list in the script for them...

Others were talking about how some camp pads were no longer paying period... simply pretending to be camp pads

Reminds me of the old joke from the former USSR regarding state-owned factories...

"We will keep pretending to work, as long as they keep pretending to pay us."

oh dear, I've written some of those fake camp pads in the past as a joke propr at one dude's club... and well they were full perm and someone did tell me they saw the script out there still.. course not that hard to script to begin with.


As for the access list on the pads, not that hard to do either using a notecard or an array in the script itself.

Even easier if they have 1 bot assigned to the camp pad...and name the camp pads for easy scripting of the bots
