Number of Local Lights = 2?

I've noticed something very odd today. I made an island with 3 torches, and only 2 of them lit up. I put on my 1-prim facelight, and bang, the furthest torch went out.

Now, I made these torches, AND the facelight myself... there's only one light per object.

Something WEIRD seems to be going on, and my friend says she sees the same thing. Can anyone confirm that the number of local lights rendered has been reduced to 2? (used to be 6!)

Looks like a bug in the custom viewer we're both using.

I've just tested and I got me six nice bright lights. Using the official viewer.

Okay, looks like it's specific to the 1.19.1.4 Cool SL build.. now we just have to determine if it's Windows only bug, or a bug in the patches

If you look at Torley's tutorials in the blogs for 1.20, you'll see that it is still 6 local lights. the 6 NEAREST to your avatar. 1.19.1.4 is no different to 1.20 in this respect.

That's all very well and good, but not at all what I was asking.

I see 2 lights. My friend sees 2 lights. Anyone with 1.19.1.4 sees 6 lights. We solved it, it's Cool SL that has a bug, kthnkx

Would it be possible that you overlooked a light somewhere? Maybe a weak one, or one buried undergrounds, or a prim with the "Light" checkbox accidentally ticked but at very low intensity?

I think there is a debug option to highlight light sources somewhere in the "Advanced" menu. I can't go in-world right now to check it out. if you find it, try activating this to check all light sources in the vicinity.

no, it's not possible, it's a client bug, in the code. We're reporting it to the programmer.

Please consider this matter settled.

I hear Jupiter is crossing the path of Saturn right about now. It could be related to that.

Actually, scratch that...

Looks like it may be a bug in the main client, related to Atmospheric shaders:
