Losing pets during/after sim restart

Several times now, and always after a sim restart, my pet dog has wandered off to parts unknown, ending up sometimes two sims away before she gets autoreturned to me from somewhere. She's missing again right now. :(

She uses a scripted collision avoider thingie that sends out little transparent probes that sense solid (non-phantom) objects and tell her to turn around. Is it possible that during a sim restart, this function gets messed up?

I've gone over my invisible fences and walls to make sure there aren't any cracks she can use to escape, and between sim restarts, she stays on my group property for days at a time without anything going wrong. But lately it seems like every time the sim restarts, she's gone when I come back.

Has anyone else encountered this, or am I the only one? And if anyone with property in or near the Lilypad sim happens to see a German Shepherd puppy named Annie wandering around, will you please return her to me?

Hi Puppet :)

We had an old running joke around here about Raymond Figtree's crabs... or more specifically, one crab named Sideways. Like your dog, Sideways had a tendency to wander off.

Perhaps Ray will stop by and let you know how his situation was resolved. I think it might have been an updated version with a fixed script from the creator.

Runaway Dog! LOL
Did you create your pet or did you purchase it? I'm sure the original creator will be happy to give you a few tips. Did you try and drop her a notecard with your question? In the meantime, if I see a runaway pup, I'll give you a call... ;)

It was a script issue. Since I got my new dose of crabs, even a sim restart won't get rid of them.

It might be because of who you hired to herd them for you. Doh! I am supposed to be shy.

Puppet, I once had to help a tenant who lost her dog in Liome. We eventually found him near a scripted banana phone. Depending on the creator, some pets are attracted to scripted items. Good advice from Isabeau. Drop a notecard to the creator for advice.

My dog recently sent me a message that he was lost. I logged in to find that he was at my home but was just missing me. Now I always take "angel" into my inventory before I log out.

Hope you find Annie soon. :)

Thanks for the advice. I notecarded the creator - duh, why didn't I think of that first? Must be because I was so sad about losing my puppy. I bought her at SL PALS and I miss her. I think she took one of her toys with her when she ran away this time!

I would prefer not to take her back into inventory when I'm gone - I have a very tiny studio on group land and my friends and visitors need some puppy love when I'm not there. :)

Interesting that some pets are attracted to scripted items. Twice now she's been returned from my neighbors' parcel on the bordering sim - they own the whole sim. They have a cat. Perhaps she wants another pet to keep her company.

Hopefully someone will find and return her by the time I get home from work tonight. I worry about her wandering alone around this strange world!

On another note, I just noticed that my pooping seagull was frozen in place - I had to reset the scripts to get it going again. Is there a mass animal rebellion going on? At least our crabs are temp-rezzed so they won't be going far.
