Heya folks. I woke up this morning to find roughly half or more of my inventory completely missing, or at least inaccessible. All the folders are there, but most of them do not have the little expando-arrows next to them, even though there should be things in them. Is this like an asset server problem or something?

You tried the usual delete cache / relog in empty sim thing, right? (Just checked, and my Inventory looks normal, as far as I can tell.)

[RESOLVED] We are experiencing isolated inventory issues
Posted by Status Desk on September 15th, 2009 at 09:49 pm PDT [Sep 15th, 9:55pm PDT] We are currently experiencing isolated inventory issues. Please do not rez “no copy” objects or make important transactions for the time being. We are working quickly to resolve the issue. Please check back with the blog for updates. The usual. |

This happened to me not so long ago. As it happens, I run both Windows and Linux on my pc, and found I was able to access my inventory in Linux but not Windows XP, so I knew it must be a local problem.
After doing all the normal stuff about clearing cache and relogging, and logging into Aditi and seeing if that brought my inventory back, I contacted Live Chat for assistance, and this is what happened. First, I was advised only to use the Offical viewer while trying to recover stuff (presumably because that's the only one upon which Live Chat can comment). Then I was told to find my local cache (typically at C:\Documents and Settings\my windows user name)\Application Data\SecondLife\) and delete the folder bearing my avatar name. There was also a folder, C:\Documents and Settings\(my windows user name)\Application Data\SecondLife\cache, which I was advised to delete -- I am not sure if that's there normally or if one of the home-brew viewers I use had put it there. Then I was advised to relog and see if my inventory rebuilt itself. Rather to the surprise of the Linden advising me, it didn't. He said he'd ask his more technically-minded colleagues for advice, but in the meantime, I did a bit of research in the wiki and poked round my Windows file structure, and came across C:\Documents and Settings\(my windows user name)\Local Settings\Application Data\Temp. I deleted the contents of this, too -- Windows wouldn't let me delete the whole file -- and then relogged with the conventional viewer. And, to my great relief, my inventory now showed as empty and then rebuilt itself. But if it doesn't work for you, please don't blame me! |

Thank you for this informative thread. I had heard something somewhere about "deleting the temp file" but had no idea what that meant. Now I know.

I've been having database issues since Saturday. Ditto that.. I spent more than 3 hours working on a new product 2 nights ago. Took it into inventory, can't read properties or set perms.. wouldn't rerez.. missing from database. Closed and reopened the folder it was in... gone! Bunch of other strange stuff going on too. _____________________
