I updated to the lastest of the updates...1.19.1.4 I believe it is. Which I had problems running Windlight so I went back to the regular viewer. When applying the new update, and turning all graphic's details to their lowest settings, turned everything off that did not need to be on, and updated my systems drivers. I am still lagging out when I walk around, which causes me to crash. Frustrated I deleted SL and switched back to the verison previous to the Update and I am now still having the very same issue. Can anyone offer some advice?

Hi Nebecanezer, welcome to the forums. It's unfortunate that LL chose to do this client update while Havok4 is still new on the maingrid, it makes it hard to sort these things out. You mention a lot of client/driver changes ... did you clear or delete your cache during this? If not, do try that.

Also, have you tried several different sims?

Specifically, what lag symptoms are you seeing? If you seem to be getting stuck or lagged while walking, as if you were going through a small sim crossing very often, the problem MAY be this bug:

http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-2005

SIM FPS and time dilation dropping dramatically in cycles. I think I may be experiencing this problem.

I'm going to bring up the stats window (ctrl-shift-1) next time I'm online, and see what I can see.

If that's not it, then try posting your machine specs (Help/about) and someone will pick it up from there.
:)

I have tired other SIM's and it seems the lowly populated and less prim SIM's seem to be easier on me than the others. The issue is not stuck in one SIM and others I talk with seem to Not be expericing the same problem and have tried to go over issues with me about what it could be. They all suggest the Fourms here.

Machine Spec's as Best I know and can find, it was custom built

OS - Microsoft Windows XP Pro - Version 2002 Service Pack 2
Processor - AMD Athlon Xp 3000+
2.10 GHz
Ram - 2.00 gb
ASUS Motherboard (I forget the details)
Raedon 9800 ATI Grahpic's Card

If Anyone knows where I can get further details on System Info to help, please tell me how. My computer knowledge is Limited.

Hi again, Nebecanezer. Your system specs look great, nice computer. A few questions:

1. What client are you running?

2. Did you try clearing your SL cache? (Preferences/Network, Clear Cache checkbox. Then relog)

3. Can you be more specific by what you mean by "lag"? What exactly ie happening? Do you hesitate when you walk? Do you sink into the ground?

4. Next time you are in, please bring up the statistics console (control-shift-1) and tell us what the fps (frames per second) near the top of the statistics display is.

Thanks!
.

1) I was running Client, I asume is the version...1.19.1.4, but I back dated to the 1.19.0.5 version of it.

2) I did the clear Cashe, but that seemed to have no effect.

3) The Lag - it was simply this. I would walk close to an area full of scripts or residents, the screen would get choppy walking forward. Then everything simply stops and then poof...it's sending a crash log report.

4) ....... Switched back to older version before I got this reply, see the following.

~~~~~~~~ Since I have back dated to the older version, I do not seem to be have as much problems since I have control over the memory on my Graphics Card with Advanced graphics option not in the new version.
My FPS is down 7 when I walk and gets up to 15 when I am still and not moving.
Thanks for all your Help so far Nika, I apologize for not saying it sooner...I've just been really frustrated.
For this particular thing, you should have control in the new client, it's just in a different place than before. In Edit / Preferences / Graphics, down at the bottom right, there's a "Hardware Options" button that brings up a dialog with a control for size of texture cache. (While in that dialog, you might try toggling off VBO, too, as an experiment.) As far as I can recall, that was the extent of what one could control in the old viewer, too, although it may have been labeled different--can't quite remember.
If I'm reading the posts correctly, though, it sounds as if there's more going wrong than just the viewer settings--or even viewer version. Just hoping things are workable for you now, and that some pattern emerges that helps to identify whatever problems remain.
Oh, and you asked about how to get system info. The most commonly relevant info can be found from inside the SecondLife viewer, in "Help / About Second Life..." The specific release version is at the very top, and the client machine environment on the lines starting with CPU through OpenGL Version.
Qie...thanks for the info, everything is working great now. Could I bother the onlookers once more. Since I have everything working fine in an older version, and watching the forums I see their is alot of good and bad with the Newest update, i'll stick with the old one till I hear 'alot' of good about it.
Meanwhile...I am getting 8 FPS to 15 FPS standing still, Walking forwards and back, when I Turn and spin it drops to 1 FPS and then poof, I have a crash logger running. Any Thoughts?
