I did some searches and did not find an answer. I apologize if this is a repeat question.
There is one little quirk/feature that really irritates me: the floating chains of colored trapezoids. Are these supposed to indicate when an object is rezzing? Are they merely decorative?
I find that they obscure my views.
Besides asking what they are for I would also like to know how to get rid of them.
Now, I have already found that I can eliminate them by turning off "particles".
The down sides however is that there are functional particle streams I would like to see (without seeing the trapezoids pulsing around me).
Is there a way to trap the trapezoids and lock them away without missing out on some of the beautiful fountains, fireworks, and other particle effects that enrich the SL experience.
Thanks. Zeke

Thanks much for the quick, simple response. That was exactly what the problem was.
Now I can enjoy all the particles with none of the trapezoids.

One more tip. You might want to turn off the selection beam if you haven't already. That thing has practically given me seizures in the past. If you're zoomed in close on a tiny object, the particles are so large and so bright, that the entire screen strobes. It's nauseating.
