I have seen a lot of acronyms used in these forums (and other forums, both SL related and non SL related) and some I know, just from seeing them many times
others I am lost on heh
so, should we have a sticky for acronyms? so others can access it easily to see what ppl are speaking about in code? hehe
here are a few I know
lol - laughing out loud, or lots of laughs rofl - rolling on floor laughing roflmao - rolling on floor laughing my ass off ibtl or ibl - in before the lock or in before lock ftw - for the win asap - as soon as possible imho - in my humble opinion brb - be right back afk - away from keyboard pebcak - problem exists between chair and keyboard ra - red alert ras - running around screaming
I know there are more but right now my mind is blanking LOL
So... feel free to add yours, acronyms only, not abbreviations (like sim is an abbreviation)
ya know... side thought here, abbreviation is an awful big word, for it's meaning, ironic isn't it? heh

FWIW - for what it's worth
PS - I hate when people quote what someone else said and just put QFT. First of all I didn't know what it meant until just now, lol, and second, it looks silly and takes up space.

This is more for the interwebs in general than for the platform. It's probably OT

I think it is very much for second life as many acronyms are used in SL.
SL being an acro its self SL - second life
idk - I don't know
so really, is this not fitting for SL?
I think many ppl just dare not ask what an acro means, for fear of looking stupid
this way they can see the more popular ones
and hell, this thread is no more off topic (OT) than any of the first 50 threads in this forum)
there is one that should be closed and should have been after the first post, that still remains in the forums
at least this thread is not being rude or making blanket statements about folks

From: Sally Silvera YMMV : your mileage may vary QUOTE] Thanks! I wondered what that one meant. It used to drive me crazy to try and figure it out. Although I could have just asked, I suppose...

a common one here is OP, meaning either 'opening post' or 'opening poster' depending upon the context.

This forum isn't for general discussion; there are many Resident Sites where this discussion is appropriate — Resident Answers is for Resident-to-Resident help. I'll close this thread...
