HI I was pleased with my greasy biker locks until last night.I bought a nice pipe ,thought it would be fun, went to a club, attached my pipe and went as bald as a coot.Made my exit as quick as i could and tried to sort it out.It turns out my hair was attached to my mouth and i did not get a warning ,next time i did thats how i figured it out.How do you change an attachment place and make it stick without glue. Its almost enough to make me stop smoking. Cheers Blot

Can you not right click on your hair in your inventory and select "attach" - then choose something other than "mouth" in the pick list? You may need to strike a pose and edit the hair, to position it as you want it.

It can be done, but it's a bit tricky. With your hair off, right click it in inventory and then choose attach instead of wear. Scroll down the options and attach the hair to your scalp ( I think, could be skull ). Then hop on a pose stand and adjust the hair until it's in the right place.

If all else fails, im me in world. I have this hair full perm and have altered the fit myself!

good luck.

One of the more annoying (and dumb) bugs in SL for attachments.

If you edit an attachment while it's worn (which you pretty much HAVE to do so), you have to Detach it before the system will save the changes.

A crash, or logout will defaul the attachment back to where/how it was before your edit if you don't. So edit, detach, wear, and all should stay that way after.

I don't think it's a bug. It's actually quite helpful if you're editing your hair, etc, screw it up, and then realize you forgot to make a copy before you started. As long as you haven't detached yet, you can still copy and paste a fresh version into inventory.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

Don't do this in Appearance mode.

1. Stand on a pose stand (iimportant)
2. Make a copy of the hair, for safety purposes
2. Rez the hair in world, don't wear it yet
3. Position the hair on your head
(tip...wear the original copy of the hair attached to its default location as a guide to positioning the copy)
4. Take the hair back into inventory
5. Select the hair in inventory and Attach to Skull
6. Do any additional fine repositioning required.

Okayyyyyyy. Blonde question for you: why would you rez the hair in world and reposition? Why not just attach it to the alternative spot and edit it there?
I spend hours getting wigs just right btw, so my posestand is a good buddy of mine.

Also, if you rez it in-world, you need to be on a parcel with enough prims in reserve to support the hair. Some of these hairpieces are primmy as h**l!

Tell me about it! I was horrified at the prim count of some of my favourites! I've gone and bought some lowish prim count wigs for music gig hopping and such. Makes TPing a lot less painful :)

A very un-blonde question. Your method should work in most cases, Sally.

I use my method when I have a job to do that involves positioning more than one object, and then linking them, such as a bangs object and a hair object, or a hair and a ponytail. It's also necessary if you want to unlink any of the prims.

I suggested it in this case because the OP mentioned that, after editing using your streamlined method, his hair jumped onto his skull backwards when worn. Just thought it might help with that problem as well.

Your post did make me chuckle Blot, I had a similar experience this week, due to my haste and ignorance yet again!
I was dancing in a club and the event was Best Tattoo, OK I thought, lets find that tattoo I have and of course I wore it and Hey presto, at a stroke I was topless!!
I chose the wrong option as usual.
I panicked and wrenched the power plug out hoping nobody noticed :-)

Hope your pipe looks cool with your locks from now on.

Thanks for clarifiying, thought I was missing something. That's true of course, if you want to get rid of that piece of hair sticking through your ear :)

Mijake, if you just turn off the computer your avatar might stay inworld for about a minute. A minute to get a whole lot of indecent proposals no doubt.

I'm having a similar problem, just with glasses and a hat. I tried using a pose stand, and editing the location of my glasses, but now they just rotate into my face and I can't figure out why.

Are they on your eye? Eyes move independantly, and cause things to rotate when they shouldnt.. I found that out with a hat once.. was interesting though

My pleasure ^^
Eye is only good for things like 'contacts' and such, you don't always control your av's eye movement, which gets annoying with anything that isn't attached directly to the eye

I could be totally wrong but, if the hair is not attached to your body before you adjust, positioning will be pointless.

Simply rezzing in world and positioning it on your head will look great until you hop off the pose stand. If the hair wasnt attached to your avater before adjusting it wont stay with ya. You'll just have a wig hanging out in space above a posestand.

Attach to skull or where else you want it, grab a pose stand and adjust as needed. Once the wig is in the desired place, take it back into your inventory and from now on it will attach in the space you put it.
