Okay, I've started a new thread for a good reason. Although the question I am about to ask relates to a topic started in a previous thread, it is still a separate topic and I want those not involved in the last one to be able to have a say in this one.

Do any of you out there like to ride vehicles? Be they aircraft, cars, boats or non-attached horses (AKK are actually avatar attachments, so can be ridden anywhere). I'm looking for a good place to fly an airship. Nautilus has been reccomended to me, but most if it is No Build, so I can't rez my airship and even if I could, once you move from one sim to another there is a tendency for things to go a bit mad (occassionally the airship will go on without me even).

So anyone out there who likes their vehicles - let us know; where do fly/drive them?

The ocean in western Nautilus is pretty large and open. Most private property along the edge allows build. At least mine does, in Bonzo. There's another large ocean in southern Corsica.

Thanks I'll take a look at Corsica - but Nautilus is no go; every other sim has No Script.

Abbotts. It can be a bit laggy at times, but you can use the airship dock and fly around in any direction for a good amount of time before hitting any obstacles. Just be careful, there are a few sandboxes in the area, so you may encounter "turbulance" if you loiter over one.

What, like being knocked out of the air by giant prim penises...?

I can't believe I just said that.

Close. I had one follow me shooting particles one day. Then another I had a Brazilian Guy, who kept jumping into my ship, asking me for sex. I kept ejecting him and he kept coming back.

Caledon is largely open and frequently used, but there are a few places where parcels are full. In about 30 days it looks like we'll have a LOT of maritime sims in place (adding roughly 5 sims in that time) with covenanted restrictions to not block flying in most of them.

I know we own it but...

Take a look on FairChang Island !

It is open to all, attached to around 50 sims that are mostly water but also great for flying. We also have a 6 sim city and suburbs with roads.

I love boating / driving / flying around there.

I am getting quite envious. I haven't even SEEN one of those prim penises yet.....but I have managed to crash a TARDIS and a blimp crossing sim lines....repeatedly....

Vehicle Sandbox sims
08-21-2007 13:56
There are a group of sims (I think six) in the western Old Continent that make up the Vehicle Sandbox. There are a few rez areas, and the rest is for driving around. I don't remember all the sim names, but I think one is Georgean. The others are all connected, so that should get you there.

Although it looks best for driving, I suspect you could launch an airship there as well. :)

Yes I have flown about FairChang, very nice. It's a nice walking place as well.

I will check out my home sim and vicinity. I know I can launch from there but I'll try my alt to see if non-group members can do it. I've been able to cruise into at least a few of the adjacent sims in the past.

Corsica is not bad, there are Linden protected channels and so forth. Abbott's or Caledon are probably your best bets though.

What we really needed was a very large area - and FairChang seems to fit the bill.

Infact, I'm liking what I see so much that I'm looking at some of the parcels for sale here too.

Quan Li is good - you can rez there and swing down through a long chain of island sims.

Also smaller area (5 sims i think), but nice volcano to swing round is MoanaKane

I like to fly my airship along Linden roads and rivers. You can fly for hours if you follow these, just take it slow over the sim boundaries. Abbotts is a good place to start. It would be great to compile a list of LMs to good starting points.

Actually, I've started doing just that. I'll keep searching and put together something - maybe some of the aircraft retailers might want to include them with their products.

I went over to Dog Fight Atoll yesterday. Looks like a nice place. Unfortunately they prefer a Vintage Theme, so my Huey and I were politely asked to leave.

Odd, since they sell futuristic fighter jets there too. Problem with Dog Fight Atoll is it's one sim with no neighbouring sims, so you find yourself bumping into nothing every few moments. We need large expanses of open sims - places like the afore mentionned FairChang and Nautilus. Corisca looked pretty interesting too. FairChang is about the biggest area I could find - although it's very flat and aside from the manatees there's not that much to look at. I'd love to fly over the snowy area near Chalet Linden. That would rock.

Someone once posted on here the location of their place along a roadside and welcomed anyone to rez their vehicles there. It was a while ago. I'll search the old threads.

I didn't realize how good I had it on my old roadside lot that faced the nasty ad farm! I would get out my airship and glide across ten sims along the roadway easy as....pie.

Yesterday I tested the public launch next to my home. Going south was fine for a few sims but immediately north I hit ban lines

Have you tried flying above the sailing areas, like from Hollywood to Nantucket? Does that work?
