Does it stay Protected? Or does LL eventually Sell it? Just curious as I am looking into buying a mainland plot that is right next to a LL protected sim.

Thanks in advance

Generally, yes, but if you are in an area that is still developing, no.

The Gaeta archipelago of continents is still under construction. One of the continents is complete, but there is a new one that is still forming. If you are on one of the established continents, you're pretty safe that it will remain protected.

If you can _fly over_ the land, ie an ocean, road strip etc, and it says it is protected land and owned by Governor Linden, then it is not going to go away.

However, occasionally some dodgy land barons will try to say that land has a "protected land" when it isn't. The edge of this sim will abruptly end and then change to ocean, and that ocean is inaccessible; there isn't a sim there. In this circumstance, it is nearly certain that when new mainland is added, a sim will appear.

Land owned by the Guv'nor that is expected to be resold is normally labelled 'maintenance' rather than 'protected land'. That's a good guideline anyway.

The "protected land" label is not guaranteed... established protected land has on occasion gone on sale. It's very rare, but it can happen... I think it happened to the old telehubs that didn't get turned into infohubs, for example.
