Changing names

A recent thread here discussed whether or not anyone regretted their choice of avatar / account name.

Surely it is easy to change name ?

(1) Create a new account (an 'alt') with a 'better' name.
(2) Copy / Transfer your inventory and money to the new avatar
(3) Rebuild your avatar using the same skins etc .

( Afterthought , ... I suppose there would be an issue with inventory items which are 'no transfer'. )

And that would be about 75-90% of my inventory.




But I don't regret my name choice, there are just sometimes other cool names I might like to have.

I think there was a poll question sometime ago though, upon login, about whether or not you'd ever like to change your name? So maybe it's something that'll get implemented eventually. (But I doubt it's a priority, so who knows when that will be.)

As Lil mentions that's the main problem.

I had created an Alt that is absolutely identical to my main, just as a lark - not because I wanted a better name (I LOVE my name). I just wanted her to have a twin and at the time wanted an Alt to be able to "hide" in when I didn't want to be bothered at all.

Sure you can double up what you purchase (costly) or get lots of high quality freebie clothing/hair/skins and duplicate them but thats very time consuming. It would be a nice feature if LL would let you change your name, even at a price. I'm happy with what I've chosen but I know plenty of people would be thrilled to get rid of what they originally picked.
