Please forgive the newbie question...
How do I open the internal web browser in SL, please? Is it already there, or a download?
Many thanks.

Sorry. Yes, trying to access the WWW from in world SL. I have seen some articles that suggest it can be done. Often I want to check something on the web without logging off and back on. My computer does not have sufficient RAM to run IE and SL simultaneously.
If the procedure is not well known, that answers my question, I think.

Type a working URL into chat; then open up the chat history window - the URL will be a link. Click the link, and voila! SL browser's open.

I haven't done that in a while but when I did do it IE opened for me. Maybe 6 to 9 months ago? I don't remember exactly when but I do know it was IE and not some some SL browser.

Thank you very much. sometimes in sl i click and then touch and get a small window within sl that has the website info as tho it is an sl broswer type of thing sorry my lingo is not more accurate it gives me the choice of using that or using my own browser it never however gives me the choice of just pulling up that little thing to look up things it only comes up if i touch something that makes it come up that was as clear as mud, huh? wish i could give an example off hand so you could check it out, but i do know exactly what you are talking about

If your computer won't handle both IE and SL running at that same time then if SL opens IE for you it won't be able to handle it either. It's like clicking a link in your email........it launches your browser........if that is IE then that is the one it launches (just like if you launched it from your start menu). You can help your computer out by putting SL on your task bar then launch EI.......SL being on the task bar takes less resources to run than still open in a window behind your browser. You might be able to do that and not have much trouble with your computer struggling.

Actually, the RC brings up what looks like an internal browser window. It gives you the option to set to your browser, but you don't have to.

Like I said earlier, I haven't clicked on a link within SL in 6 or 9 months.......and there were not RC's back then. If SL has it's own browser, great.............I'll stick to EI. The one I know the best.

Second Life has had an embedded Moziila browser for a long time now. The current mainstream client, version Second Life 1.19.1 (4) Apr 2 2008 11:59:37 (Second Life Release), has a Mozilla browser in it. Go to preferences with Control P, select the Web tab. Click on the radio button next to "Use built in web browser". Click OK. Then press F1 You should have the embedded Mozilla browser open to the support page. From now on you should be able to use the embedded browser by pressing F1. It doesn't do Java or Flash, but it does do a lot of stuff.

I'm still on Nicholaz's 1.18.5.3, so I've only seen it while checking out the RC versions.

Hmm, the chat room feature at SLUniverse.com seems to work in embedded browser. Cristiano might should expand that. Regular group chat in SL works very badly quite often.
