Is there anywhere offering to host bot software at a fee? And no, I don't mean for campbots or landbots, I mean for more legitimate uses (eg, invitebots, notecardbots).

You don't need a bot for those, just a prim and a script.

For inviting people to groups?

There is no script function that will invite someone into a group (according to the sticky in the scripting forum) so people most likely do use bots for this purpose, notecards can be served without a bot however.

(just guessing: One flavor of notecardbot would accept text and make a notecard from it--something a script can't do on its own.)

I've seen some cool things with Bots.. and some cool things done JUST with SLeeK.. but I haven't heard of any hosting. Just "run your own" style.

There's a bot host available on SLX, but it appears to just be for group stuff?

Then there's this bot software you can buy in SL but I guess it runs on your own machine instead (not sure the benefit or purpose there as compared to running a second client?) There's a video on their website... http://slbot.thoys.nl

Simple scripted group inviter:

:D Not quite as automatic as a bot invite, but I do love this "Viewer URI" magic. For a list, see http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Viewer_URI_Name_Space.

This doesn't actually send an invite, it just displays the group's profile. Amongst other things it can't be used to create an exclusive group (ie, a group you can ONLY get into, by being invited by the script)

how much would you pay to have your bots hosted?

As you'd most likely be tinkering and tweaking constantly you're better off single-purposing a spare rig, loading it with something like Abyss web server (which supports Perl, PHP, Ruby, etc.), jacking it into your router, and using a dynamic DNS provider (some are free).

Also .NET Framework and libsecondlife. (Visual C++ if you want to recompile the trunk)

Even with all that, it's still relatively simple.
