Dear all,

Since 5 days I'm experiencing an issue with my avatar, I've posted a photo to make it simple to explain here:

http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewPicture&friendID=228829204&albumId=0

there's a photo taken few weeks ago and i photo taken tonight.....

Briefly my avatar is showing this kind of odd black spots or band on my shoulders or my ankles, my skin is stretched down and the result is a ugly undesired look.....
Before posting here I've cleared SL client cache and reinstall the program without success.

If anyone will be so kind to help me with this issue I would be so grateful

Thanks in advance

clear cache

WAIT for cache to clear
log back on

might have to rebake textures one more time. but that should do it.

Issue still there....

No chance to get rid of this bloody issue.....
I've cleared cache up several times and logged in-out without solving the problem.
If I stay naked everything is almost ok (small black spots on my neck) but when I'm wearing some clothes it's a disaster then....

Am I gone ???

Thanks for your answers and tips

that has happened to one of my customers with a skin he purchased from me. I had to give him a whole new one to fix it. Try showing this to the skin maker and asking for a new skin.

My roomate has that problem on occasion, sometimes its on the clothing she is wearing, sometimes it is on the skin. Sometimes it is not just black banding like you mention (it often is) but sometimes it is actually the UI that is textured onto her. Many times when this has happened it has indeed ruined the outfit or skin permanantly. You can try to reback and toggle in and out of edit appearnce, sometimes that jogs her around, rarely though. If changing clothes does not work, try switching skins, it's normally on one or the other of those. Don't know what causes it or what would fix it, it has been an issue for her for several months.

Hi there,

thanks everybody for replies, advises, tips.
Tried all what u have recommended with no results, even the character tests was showing same fading textures problems (seems like textures fall down)
Noticed that after rebaking textures it keep the aspect more or less up to the next refresh when textures start falling down from my body again....

I'm now desperate......

Any further test, idea, tip would be extremely appreciated.....
SL is gettin worse then RL...

I regret this forum (which I recommended) has not yet suggested a workable fix, Daria. Keyword: "yet."

Having met you in-world;having seen this horrible problem first-hand, I am inclined to believe you may well have a skin issue.

Failing that, you may need to contact a Linden to meet you in-world and witness this issue first-hand. It is the worst I have seen. It is the first I have been unable to guide to correction.

Good luck to you honey.

I'm sorry to say I have bad news and good news.

The bad news is... I have no idea how to fix that, and I feel for you.

The good news is that you may become famous as the first victim of "SLeprosy"

I don't think anyone has ever really come up with a way to fix this particular problem.

Some found temporary fixes that work for them (adjusting the shape, switching to a mod skin and changing the sliders and then switching back to their regular skin), but it persists across multiple puters with different video cards or brands of cards (although that can sometimes temporarily make it go away) which makes it more of an account issue that LL needs to fix, rather than something that's wrong on your end :(.

(Edited to add that I can't see the picture since I don't have a Myspace account - uploading it to something like http://imageshack.us would be better :) - but from the description it sounds like the "blue bands" problem)

You could contact the posters of /327/a9/153448/1.html and /327/ed/198532/1.html on if/how they ever managed to fix the problem for them and I can refer you to two other people in-world who had the same problem a few months back as well if you want :).

Maybe some who look at the Tech forum and not this one might have a solution. Sounds like a technical problem and many go there to try to help if they can. Well, here too, but probably more tech helpers are there.

Not much consolation, but it's a "known issue."

Hi everybody!

thx for all your replies and support.... much appreciated.
So far things are running slowly better with my original skin but I just have few clothes which don't raise the issue up again, there's a kind of black collar now around my neck and 2 black stripes around my ankles, luckily no more fading textures on my face (crossing fingers and touching wood....)
lThe character test female is also compromised and it shows the same issue as mine.
I've trown away some clothes, hairs and freebie skins but I think it was unnecessary to do so.

Will keep you posted.

Daria

PS: Avatar: new keyword "thx!!!"
PS2: Kitty, good move, now I have official name: "the blue band issue"
PS3: Beezle, very interesting post! , that's not my issue even if I've noticed myself reloading too much in the last period and also all in-world textures. Now I know it wasn't by design!

I recently had this issue myself. The Neck line was my worst.
Doing a texture rebake and then resaving my skin with a new name fixed it for me. The old skin was obviously living in cache and would rear its ugly head even after a rebake. But since i resaved the skin, no more problems. Hope this helps.

Hi there,

sorry for late post but I was making sure to have it fixed.
Did same process like Doofus then, cleared cache up and wverything was running OK!
When some clothes were still damaging my skin opened appearance then edit height (you can change what u want) change the value to 10 more or less, click save, then go back to original parameters then save again. all fixed.
before logging out clearing cache was a good move.

Hope this can helps all u folks.

This happened to a friend and his cure sounds a little silly, but...

Are you wearing an AO (animation override)? If yes, take it off and do a quick "appearance".

I had the same issue. Believe it not its client side and not server side. I have a desktop PC and laptop sitting side by side. If I log in to the desktop I have the stripes... if I log in on the laptop I have none. I went over every possible fix with one of the lindens in game. He walked me through 50 things....nothing worked. Now when I get them I simply log in on the laptop and rebake and they go away.
