Hello just out of curiosity what is the going rate for land rentals? I tried searching before posting but, I could not find an answer. I also checked the land buying FAQ on the wiki secondlife website. On that site they do not have average pricing/cost information on land rental just on land buying.
i am currently paying 5527L for 4 weeks 702 prims 3072meters. class 5. minimal lag.
Is there a better deal out there? I primarily use the land as a sandbox in the sky (to avoid autoreturn and lag). if i'm not working on it i store my items in my inventory.
any info is greatly appreciated. thank you.

That's about a middling rate for anyone offering land for rent, and planning to stick around.
You could do slightly better, but honestly, I'd suggest staying with it.
The key phrase is 'planning to stick around' shortly followed by 'viable business model' and 'able to keep their bank balance positive.'
Some estates have old tier regions and can beat that handily, but like mine, those inexpensive areas are usually booked solid and not on the market, really.

For estate land that's a decent rate, you could get mainland cheaper or as Desmond points out, a landlord who has discounted rates because they have a grandfathered sim, but those are hard to find. Your best bet is to look through the Land rentals forum that you can find here: /114/1.html

As Desmond pointed out, that's about the going rate for land rental for that size of parcel. Keep in mind that most rental prices are relative to what LL charges as tier on a comparable mainland parcel. If something looks to be a super bargain, inspect it further ie: how long the landowner has been in SL and or renting parcels out, is the sim crowded-lagged etc. Usually renting on private sims is a better deal for a few reasons including less fly-through traffic, covenants that keep the peace and or have building codes, and possibly cheaper rent simply because a sim owner has extra land and wants to lease it out and not necessarily run it as a business that they rely on. If you go to the dashboard of your profile here on the site, on the left column you'll find Land Manager, click on that to drop the menu down and then select Land Use Fees and that will give you a list of what LL charges as tier for various parcel sizes.

although it might be a good deal for an estate, it seems wasted money for your purposes, since you can get the same prims on mainland for an amount starting as low as 3500
