Mod Rights....Can't Texture

Quick question. Last night my bf built a house and it was my job to texture it. He gave me mod rights but I can only texture the whole prim. I can't choose faces to texture for some reason. Does anybody know whats going on. Oh yea he already shared the house with the group...that didnt work either. Any advice is appreciated. Thank you.
