I downloaded the SL viewer slim version and then downloaded the SLim program.
Installed the new viewer and the SLim program.
Went in world on the new browser.
Tried to start SLim. It gave me a window asking for user name and password--says it is offline.
Would not accept my SL name and password.
Exited.
Tried to start SLim again. Program will not start. Nothing happens when I double click the icon.
Unistalled both new programs. Reinstalled.
Everything is the same.
Time wasted so far = 1 hour.
Is there a Linden who can help or anyone else with a suggestion? Or, should I just wise-up and uninstall both programs and forget it until the bugs are worked out by someone else?

Well if you only want text messaging you could try: SLeek - a fairly functional lightweight text client although not currently maintained - http://delta.slinked.net/second-life/sleek/MetaBOLT - based on sleek and with more functionality - http://www.metabolt.netTRim - a very light weight client with limited functionality (personal IMs only) but which has a much reduced network usage so can be used on slow networks such as dialup - http://code.google.com/p/trim/All are free and opensource. However all are for Windows only. Matthew

did you register your account at Vivox? http://secondlife.com/SLim/ link is on that page DO NOT use your SL password to register at Vivox (it says so right on their page) and I never had to use it when signing into SLim as for why SLim will not start, is it already started and in the tray (where the time shows?) if not have you tried restarting your system? Then tried starting SLim?
