Setting my home location

When I first logged into SL I was given some default/random rezzing point.

A little over a month ago I became partered with someone. I set my home location to the land/house that we shared.

We are now no longer partnered and would not like to rezz into their home.

I don't like rezzing to my last location.

You can only set your home to land you own or "mainland".

I have yet to figure out how to find some piece of "mainland" so I can set my home locations there.

Will someone please point me in the right direction.

Thanks

Join NCI Homeowners Group and you can call their place 'home'

Many groups let you set your home location to their land.

I let anyone in my group (Katayama Originals) set home to one of my store locations.

I am sure many other land owning groups do too.

One of the nicest places you can set to Home is the SL Botanical Garden. Just join their Group and then follow the instructions of where to go in the Garden to set yourself to Home there.

Infohubs allow you to set your home there. I've heard Hanson Infohub is decent.

Here are some more places you can set as your home location:

The Help People! headquarters
The GQ Start campus on Zugspitze
Callatropia (the giant hair store)
The Villas at Lebettu (if you send me an IM. I'll send you a group invitation).

And Trout left a fully furnished cardboard box you can live in.

You can also use the Forum Cartel hangout and the nearby lands. You just have to jion the Forum Cartel group.

Sorry to hear abut your breakup. I hope you will be better soon. If you need company, either the NCI or the Forum Cartel would be a perfect place to call home.

I would say NCI, it will be celebrating its 3rd birthday this week and a great bunch of helpful people.

Remember that it's possible you might login to your home location in your birthday suit. So maybe a more private home area if you like to do things while naked.

It's a land setting, Georgie.. There's a checkbox that land owners can set to allow people to set their home to that land. All my land has this setting and a number of people use it - you're welcome to call it your home, too.

I know this is an old thread. I posted to it so you'd know I've been trying to find the answer. I cannot set my home!

A friend used to let me use her land as home until she sold it.

I've been going to infohubs and telehubs and NCI and other places. In ALL of them I get the message that I can only set home in my own land or at a mainland infohub.

I've tried infohubs.

I even went back to help island and teleported to the Plum Welcome Area but that didn't become my home, and I couldn't set it.

I've tried a bunch of places, really.

Help!

The mainland infohubs should have worked. Failing that the only thing I can suggest is finding a public place you like, see if they allow group members to set home on their land, and if so join the group and set home. I'd offer to try and help out in world, but as this seems to be happening client side on your end, not really sure there's much I'd be able to do.

Sorry.

If it's a group only thing, make sure you wear your group tag when you try to set home.

Okay, it worked at one of the Infohubs. I swear, it didn't work yesterday.

Thanks!

There was a spot at the SL Botanical Gardens that you could set to home if you joined the group there. I don't know for sure but I'd guess it's still there.

You can also use the Forum Cartel Hangout in Allana; again you may need to join the group. There is a sky platform about 300m up there, which is a nice place to set your home to for quick rezzing when you log in and some privacy if you'd like to change your clothes. This was my home for several months before I settled down. :)
