Have you been billed twice for tier today?

Last night my tier was due, and my account was charged double - resulting in overdraft fees on my RL checking account....

See this blog entry - and check your account carefully if your tier was due in the last 24 hours!

Lindens should pay you any bank fees which resulted in my opinion....

I was billed twice for tier last Saturday and submittted a ticket and contacted live help - but NO response! (Posted a thread about this on this board yesterday) I see there is an official LL blog entry about it now.

if youre a premium member live billing queries will actually use a chat interface to deal with your queries 'live'

its sort of like chatting via msn or yahoo.

Actually someone else mentioned being double billed... I wonder how much money lindens will make in interest if they double charge everybody especially if it take time to refund errors.

Thanks. I did call on the phone and a nice young man told me to submit a ticket and wait because this has apparently happened to a lot of us and it will take a while to straighten out.

I saw it about 10 minutes after it occurred, and started a live chat. I put in a ticket. Let's see how long it takes to get fixed.

Did you state you'd gone into the red to lindens and did you ask if they are going to cover any charges incurred by yourself because of THEIR error ?

Double billed here too, it shows up as a billing for this month AND last months, even though last months was already paid.


Does anyone elses double billing show up like that in the email too?

My email and transactions history page both show two identical billings dated October 28th - and 1 minute apart from each other. Both are listed simply as "Land Fee"

lindens apologise for the error but will they financialy reimbusre people who incur bank charges because of their mistake ?

I put in a support ticket and they credited my account instead of issuing a refund on the credit card... so now I have $75 in my SL US Dollar balance.

Well I guess at least I'm paid up for next month.

Yes I got billed twice too.
Just got home from work and checked my emails to find I was billed twice on the same date for the same amount of land. Only $15 (+VAT) worth of tier, so was billed $30, but still annoying!
I just submitted a support ticket as the blog suggested so will see how long this takes to sort out.

very nasty and one of those things which makes you consider being in second life very seriously.

Personally I think Lindens should DEFINATELY make some sort of financial restitution to ANYONE inconvenienced by this.

Some positive customer care would be nice on this one.

In the United States it's conversion and Linden Lab can be sued for it in small claims court. There is nothing in the Terms of Service or the billing policy which entitles Linden Lab to keep YOUR money interest free for an entire month because of Linden Lab's error. If it is preferable for you to receive a refund over a credit you should demand it, especially if you are living check to check each month. If have the time and inclination to do so you can take Linden Lab to small claims court as the TOS only applies to contractual disputes and conversion is a tort outside of the boundaries of the TOS. I can assure you it is going to cost Linden Lab a lot more money to answer the claim then it would be to comply with a demand for refund as it must be represented by an attorney in small claims court in most jurisdictions in the United States.

This is extremely dodgy. In effect Linden Lab is getting the equivalent of an interest free 1 month bridge loan from all affected customers. If it is affecting the entire tier paying customer base then this is very significant and a practice that is open for extreme abuse.

Well lindens were very quick to apply VAT - so if this business is against the law in the US perhaps they should be quick to sort out things for the customers affected.
