"Taking" furniture with linked prims

I got a piece of furniture in a hunt. It's a porch swing that sits on a little base, and the symbol for it in my inventory was the group of boxes. I rezzed it to look at it. I wanted to "take" it back into my inventory. Only half of it got taken. Then I took the other half. Now they are two separate things in my inventory, each represented by only one box, and they will no longer rez together properly. What is the technique for taking something like that all in one piece without having it break up like that? Thanks.

If (it was in two pieces to begin with) there must be a reason, maybe the swing part itself must be separate.
if (It is no copy) or you would have the original you recieved. What about just rezzing that one.
else ( Rez both pieces) line them up using the edit tools, again select both pieces and take. Don't worry about how the icon looks.

It's no copy.

It was not in two pieces to begin with. It was one piece represented by the icon that looks like a group of boxes.

When I attempt to take it back into my inventory only half of it goes. At that point it's been split into two pieces that do not reassemble properly.

I have figured it all out.

For others:

Click & choose edit

Keep edit open the whole time

Hold down shift key

Click other parts - make sure to get them all

With edit still open - Right click and choose 'take.'

Will look like a lump in your inventory, and will have the name of the last piece you clicked before taking it all up.
