I've been a resident of Caledon for over a year and have found very little need to leave the sprawling complex of 40+ sims where the Victorian theme prevails and that constitutes an active and varied community of interests and opportunities. The population is quite stable and all manner of adventures and activities are available. I love cruising the skies in planes and airships, sailing the open waters, and riding my horse through quaint towns and over perilous mountain paths. There are no ban lines, no garish "for sale" signs and other such ugliness, and a genuinely respectful citizenry.

I have friends visit and ask me if there are any other such groupings of sims unified by comparable themes of architecture, dress, and activity. SL has grown so large since I first entered in 2006 that I have no idea of what comparable opportunities exist elsewhere. Caledon is now a portal for new residents and an excellent introduction to SL. If there are any other unified and continuous groups of sims where travel by air and by sea is unfettered over many square meters, I would certainly love to know so I'll be able to respond to the queries of my friends.

Thanks!

Come take a look at Silent's Folly Estates. It's a cool little community consisting of 7 contiguous sims themed after historic Charleston South Carolina LowCountry with a bit of steampunk thrown in. I've been there heading on 2 years now and the people and landlady are great! Definitely not cookie cutter with lots of cool little treasures to be found and a nice little community.

Wando is the most westerly sim and you can explore going east. The owner supplies you your house (you can do your own if in theme) and you pay by the prim rather than lot size (you don't pay for the supplied house prims) ...so essentially you're just paying your decorating prims like furniture etc. It's beautifully landscaped with lots of common areas to play around in and the supplied homes are amazing and not the cookie cutter crap that many places offer as a "bonus". Prices are really reasonable and the place is well managed. It was even featured in Prim Perfect magazine a little while ago so fun to check out or to recommend to your friends if that sounds like their thing.
