No, this isn't about lost inventory...
I've gotten pretty good at inventory management and do it a lot.
Here's the question: Is there any way to keep Inventory from expanding EVERY folder every time you add something new? I spend more time closing folders over and over and over as I move things about, create new folders, etc. Windows folders only open if you want them to, and either stay open or close as you need. That kind of behavior would make Inventory Management here much easier. Can the AUTOMATIC expand process be turned off under one of the sub-menus somewhere?
I suspect this question doesn't belong in this forum, but I've always gotten the best answers here, so I'll take a chance on wearing out my welcome.
Thank you,
Spirit Landar

I have never encountered this. Are you using some kind of new release candidate viewer? Or perhaps you're in the Recent items tab instead of the All Items tab? My first thought was that you have something like a space in your filter field, but I could not make the open all folders effect happen using the filters. Meanwhile, until you get it figured out, there's a Close All Folders option under the File pull down menu in the inventory to close them quickly.

Yeah, sounds like a bug. I just hope you're using Inventory > File > Close All Folders to shut them again.

From: Spirit Landar Can the AUTOMATIC expand process be turned off under one of the sub-menus somewhere? Nope, but there are some JIRA things you can vote on :/ http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-2726 "all inventory folders open" http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-7948 "Auto-scroll and folder auto-open operate too fast to be useful." http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-6927 "All ROOT Inventory folders in Recent Items tab open/expand due to ANY user performed transaction with inventory."

I had this problem when I first started SL, and for the life of me I can't remember how I fixed it, but I'm pretty sure that it was something I saw on a Torley Tutorial. Look for his tut on inventory management and maybe the answer will be there.

I believe there's an option in Edit/Preferences to let you select whether you want Inventory to open a folder when you add to it... but I know what you mean. I spend more time closing folders... drives me bonkers.

Debug Settings > FolderAutoOpenDelay (seconds before automatically expanding the folder under the mouse when performing inventory drag and drop) That's all I found, but haven't tried it yet.
My folders always open too, in the Recent Items tab, whether I'm moving things or not. Every one. I use close all folders, but I have to do it every single time I use that tab and it's annoying.
